Such a fun read! Reimaginings like this one tend to be poorly written, at least for me, but Springer writes the main character of Enola in such a way that she stands on her own. Her relation to Sherlock Holmes only adds an interesting element to a well-written story. I‘m looking forward to continuing in the series.
Also, the narrator for the audiobook is excellent. #2023 #middlegrades #enolaholmes #audio

I love Jen! She is funny, relatable, and resilient. Apple Crush does have one or two bits that I would say makes this a recommendation for older readers (mature 5th grade, or 6th grade and above), but overall is a great addition to this series. I‘m planning to check out Lucy Knisley‘s work for adults next! #applecrush #graphicnovel #middlegrades #2023

I actually got my butt in gear this month and am ahead in reading. Sorry about last month.
Over all I did enjoy this book. It is not one I would have picked up on my own, as I am not a huge “ghost“ type person.
I will get it mailed off later this week.

I was hope for so much more with this book. It was definitely cute and a great addition to The One and Only Ivan, it just fell short for me.
Maybe because I am not a dog person.

While this was a great book and I enjoyed it, I cannot see myself just giving it to middle schoolers to read. (Or at least not those at my school. ) For those who live in this kind of environment by all means yes, let them read it and be able to relate.
This would make a great book club or discussion book in a middle school classroom.

LibrarianRyan humm. I have not heard of this book. 4y

This was such a cute story of the crisis of fitting in in middle school. As an educator I understand why the teachers “stopped“ her, but I wish they would have let their lunchcapdes keep going.
I have the next two from the library and can't wait to read them.
@LibrarianRyan I sent it off (from SD) and should be to you by Saturday.

This was a cute story of a girl moving to Chicago to be close to doctors to help her with her MS.
In the author's notes, I was reading how Nicholas was supposed to have polio.I must have missed something as I didn't pick this up reading, but some of the scenes make more sense now knowing this. Will middle schoolers pick up on this? I think not, they probably won't know what polio is.

LibrarianRyan Sounds odd 4y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! Polio does seem like a strange choice - it feels like a disease that isn't very common now so I'm not sure children would connect with it. 4y
Sarahreadstoomuch That does sound odd.. and if you didn‘t pick up on it, I doubt a younger reader would. 4y

I dont think I would have made it though this if not for audio books. I am not a huge historical fiction fal though. If you are, it is a good read.
I can see why some people may call this all a new classic.
