Mehso-so

I read this for book club back in early March. After discussing it there I made my review lower. There really weren‘t enough characters for a locked room mystery. And there was discussion of the twist being that there is no twist and how it plays out the way you think it would. While I loved The Silent Patient, it seems like Michaelides‘ books are on a downhill trajectory from there. I‘d get this one from the library if you want to read this one.

My daughter is willing to try this as a summer buddy read with me. Looks like a good pacey vacation YA thriller. Plus it‘s a trilogy, in the event we like it.

I‘m still working on my son to pick a book ……🤞🏾

Read4life My daughter and I enjoyed this one! 5d
Tamra @Read4life glad to know! My daughter is a reluctant reader, so I‘m hoping a thriller will keep her attention. We also are thinking about this one, since we have a copy. 5d
Read4life That‘s another book we read together and loved. 5d

Read4life For the first book, we ended up reading (and liking) the series. For the second, we watched the movie together when it came out. Both were great experiences. I hope you two have fun buddy reading. My daughter and I continue to buddy read even while she‘s away at school. 5d
Tamra @Read4life yay! I will tell her. 5d
Tamra @Read4life that is so nice - I would love that too. We‘ll look for the movies. 😁 5d
jlhammar That‘s awesome! 5d
rwmg Did your son reject the tagged book or would you rather have a different book for each child? 5d
Tamra @rwmg he said he‘d like to read something relating to WWII, so I‘m encouraging him to pick a book he‘s interested in. (edited) 5d

A murdery audiobook needs a murdery @FrostbeardMPLS candle 🕯️ Nearly finished with this one and just how I felt when I read the first one I feel like I need more Australian author recs 😄

Bookzombie I really enjoyed this 4 book series. I listened to them on audio. Not as funny as the Ernest books, more dark like a Jane Harper book. 6d
MatchlessMarie @Bookzombie thanks for the rec! 🙏 4d

@wideeyedreader and I picked this one for this month‘s mother-daughter murder mystery book club. I loved it and did not see the end coming. We‘re reading the 2nd one next month 😁

I‘m starting this month‘s IRL book club pick and felt the need to show off my new bookmark, which was a birthday gift from my husband a couple of weeks ago!

Daisey Fun bookmark! @jewright I think you may need to find one of these. 2w
jewright Do you have any idea where he bought it? My son is obsessed with tacos. 1w
BarbaraJean @jewright Yes, he got it at Barnes & Noble! 1w

I enjoyed this one though I had the first big surprise figured out well before it was revealed. The rest of them that followed snuck up on me however! A good story with nods to age old classics like Christie, and certainly worth the time. Not my favorite read, but an all around fun whodunnit/whydunnit.

Horowitz‘ Hawthorn series, in which the author is a character, is fun fluff. In each book, Tony the character and the reader learn a little bit more about the reclusive detective. In this one, Tony is accused of murdering a critic who gave his play a bad review and while he was hoping to cut ties with Hawthorn, now he desperately needs his help to prove his innocence.

Ruthiella @BiblioLitten You will probably also enjoy his Hawthorne series also! I also liked Magpie Murders and 2w

Ghastly ⭐️ (😉) I loved this one even more than the first! I decided to try the audiobook this time around, and it made the experience even better. I love the humor and the style of these books, and I enjoyed the mystery even if I didn‘t guess any of the plot twists. When the epilogue started, I actually went sheet white and gasped out loud 😱 but by the time it was finished I was giggling 🤭 I adore this series and can‘t wait for the next book!

LiteraryinLawrence That‘s quite the endorsement! 2w
BarbaraJean My IRL book club is reading the first in this series for our discussion this month, and I‘m SO looking forward to it! 2w
CarolynM I‘ve just read the first one for my IRL book group this month too @BarbaraJean 🙂 I‘ll definitely read this one too. (edited) 2w
