Another warm, cozy, and welcoming series of cute cafe adventures. These charming comics look at many topics, from dealing with anxiety disorders to being autistic to just being yourself. Perfect for anyone looking for affirmations or seeking to understand themselves and others. A great reset from a stressful day. #Comics #Neurodiversity

I kept putting off this book because it was chonky looking and I didn't want chonky. It's actually very accessible and quick to read. There's lots of white space, big text, and different formatting.

I was recommended this book because I was looking for practical tips and guidance. This book offers that but more importantly it includes the why, which is something a lot of books miss out.

PuddleJumper Explaining why something might work means I am more likely to try it. Telling me to go for a walk will not work. Explaining why going for a walk might help my brain reset, give me a break, and maybe some dopamine means I'm more likely to try it.

There was a good balance between anecdotal, factual and practical. I would definitely recommend it as a starting point.

BookishMarginalia Weighted plushie! 3w
PuddleJumper @BookishMarginalia 😅 It's a new thing in trying. I think I need something a bit heavier 3w
BookishMarginalia I have 4 weighted plushies right now, for the different textures. A sloth from Bearaby (woven texture), one furry Highland Cow from Snuggle Pals, and a super soft squishy Parrot and baby parrot from Pillowfort at Target. The Target kids decor section is the only place I have found weighted plushies in real life. 3w
PuddleJumper @BookishMarginalia I'm in the UK and you can get them in kids shops here. Heaviest I've seen is 3kg. I wanted a Hug-a-Lump because they come in different weights but I didn't like the texture.

The cat is a store brand one, it's so soft. I picked it up and just carried it around rubbing it's ear so it may work more as a comfort one.

I really like the texture and squish of the kenji toys. I use them to cuddle and rest my arms on when sitting

I've already been posting quite a bit about this book and how much it got to me. I wonder what would've been if I had read this before my diagnosis. I think I can't thank Fern Brady enough for her honesty, for being open and vulnerable. Most people still don't really know what Autism is and how autistics feel and think and react. Here we get the whole thing.

At 89% and I had to pause - again - or I might would've started to cry. I mean, I did read about about shutdowns and autistic burnouts, but hearing her talking about them that openly? That hits differentky, again. I'm the one who goes nonverbal and got in trouble for that not only as a child, but also as a grown-up. Finally I know, why this happens. I think I need to feed my ADHD side for a while before continuing this.

Just had to pause the audiobook, because Fern threw me back into my own childhood. What she tells us about her childhood friend was basically the same thing I experienced. I already related to a lot of things she wrote about in the last hour, but this scene just really, really got me ❤️‍🩹

I continue with my late book reviews but this help me to keep track of what I read in 2025 in GR. readers habits😂
I really liked this book. In some way reminded me Eleanor Oliphant is completely Fine. In this case I saw Sally as a woman with a neurocognitive condition (functional diversity) and how hard could be to adapt herself to a typical world. Family secrets, manipulation and even abuse. That‘s how I saw that family behavior (no spoiler)⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) Which means this not an easy book to read. Maybe because I‘m surrounded by my daughter‘s friends including her, where all of them have functional diversity. But the novel ended with hope…which in theses cases could be a long process with the help of professionals and family/friends support but knowing that we will see ups and downs…baby steps 4.5/5 ⭐️ 2mo
