Revolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the Sixties | Ian MacDonald

The first of many Beatles books I‘m going to be tackling this year ✨ heard really good things about this one from uber fans of the band and I like that it has an emphasis on not just the band but what was going on in the sixties at the time and how the two impacted each other.

LaraS Ooo looks interesting. This Boy was recently recommended to me too, I might just have to read a Beatles double header next year

squirrelbrain I haven‘t seen the film @LeeRHarry @CarolynM but just read a synopsis and it certainly sounds like it. ( maybe x rated in parts though!). The big Bronski Beat concert is featured and the MCs sister is going out with a nasty policeman so there‘s that angle too. 9mo

Since my first book by Christian Kracht I'm a fan and I want to collect all of his works. This book is another step towards this goal. The Yellow Pencil is a collection of Krachts travelogues around Asia from the 1990ties.

Yes, of course they're outdated and most the countries have changed a lot since. But it's still worth reading those texts. Why? Because of the way Kracht sees the world, the way he moves in it and the way he writes about it.

Oh, I loved this @MicheleinPhilly ! ❤️ It would have been on my 2022 favourites list, had a finished it a day earlier.

It left me quite breathless in places, at the injustice Ray faced from the public, the police and even his own family. Even though I kind of guessed the plot line, that didn‘t spoil anything for me.

Book 1 of 2023, and I‘m going for *all*of the challenges!

Ruthiella This was a very plot-propulsive story. And I appreciated that the author confirmed that the micro and macro aggressions were all taken from his real life experiences. 1y

a gorgeous book, complete with beautiful design from Julian House (cover designer of Recoil's 'Unsound Methods' in 1997) -- a compelling and enjoyable read, i finished this book enthusiastically in around 4- hours.
