⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fun and quick read that touches on the impact of Taylor Swift‘s music (so far) on a micro and macro level. It kind of jumps all around and I didn‘t always fully agree with the author‘s song interpretations/opinions (although that‘s the beauty of art). I did also learn some new things. It was especially satisfying to listen to this in celebration of Taylor gaining ownership of all of her masters! 🎧

CSeydel @dabbe no need to add me 💛 I don‘t wanna be tagged in everyone‘s haikus, I was just listening to this song and I thought … you know what 🤔 Your haikus have made it into my subconscious 😂 1mo

This book is a Netgalley book I was approved for before it was approved but I never got around to reading it. I found out that recently Taylor Swift is older than me by about 6 or 7 months so she‘s not that much older than me. Her birthday is December 13, 1989 and my birthday is July 9, 1990. She turned 35 in December. I‘ll be 35 in July. I like her so I think that‘s really cool.

Appropriately, I read this when commuting on the underground: my Trans-London Express, if you will. I love Kraftwerk…Computer World, what an album. This is a look at the context of the band‘s beginnings as a post-war generation‘s attempt to rebuild reputation and creativity after its destruction by the Nazis and simultaneously crafting a musical/artistic identity (A Wagnerian Gesamtkunstwerk) that was distinctly not American influenced pop/rock.

I‘m an OG swiftie from right back when I first heard Tim McGraw back in 2006. Reading this book was an insight into Swifts life I didn‘t have before and I loved every minute of it.

I feel like adding a little more non fiction into the mix might be a good idea. Going to spend the morning seeing if I can get into this.

Simon & Garfunkel's "The Only Living Boy in New York" is in my head today. Fun fact: this was one of the quotes I picked for yearbook senior year. ?

Bookwomble Great minds! I just played a load of Elvis albums, including this track, which is one of my favourites 😊 5mo
Bookwomble @CarolynM @Leftcoastzen I've seen him four times, though not for a little while now. Twice when I've seen him he's used the "Wheel of Songs", which he gets an audience member to spin and he plays whichever track it randomly lands on! Great performer. 5mo
Leftcoastzen @Bookwomble wow ! I regret not seeing him live . 5mo
Bookwomble @Leftcoastzen If it's an option for you, he's doing some US dates later this year, starting on the West Coast 😊 https://www.elviscostello.com/uncategorized/elvis-costello-announces-new-tour-ra... 5mo
