Pride | Ibi Zoboi

#TGIF, we made it! HOLY STACKS! #DiverseSpines highlights reading more women of color & this stack from @MsBsZenLife is amazing!⁣

I‘m reading PRIDE by #IbiZoboi & loving it. ⁣It‘s a retelling of Austen‘s classic. The story follows a family with Afro-Latino roots dealing with their gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood.

What are you reading this weekend?⁣

I‘m not big on history, war, or zombies, but I am into Bahni Turpin as a narrator, and Justina Ireland gives good Twitter, so I was excited to see this on Scribd. Maybe a break between Unfortunate Events. #audiobooks #ownvoices #weneeddiversebooks #readmorewomen

Electric Literature has launched #ReadMoreWomen, a campaign to encourage diversifying reading lists. There‘s a founding member subscription opportunity (which comes with a badass tote, because don‘t we always need more damned tote bags), and they also call out the need to read more non-binary, trans, and queer authors as well as authors of color. I‘m into it.

rwmg @kwmg40 How is Precious Bane? Apparently it was one of the inspirations for 7y
kwmg40 @rwmg I've not read it yet. Most of the books in that stack are still TBR. I'll have to add Cold Comfort Farm to my wishlist too! 7y

Natasha.C.Barnes @Oryx Yes!!! I loved it--I even went and followed people on Litsy who had posted favorable reviews of it, as a way of finding ppl with similar tastes! I wonder if that's how I ended up following you! ☺️ 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @cathysaid 😍😍😍 I totally agree. 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes @Jas16 Did you read it in print or audio? I adored the author-read audio, her voice was perfect. 7y

Natasha.C.Barnes @LA_Mead YES! I'm so glad you liked it, I've seen a lot of lukewarm reviews. 7y

Some of my favourite literary ladies. Such wonderful, varied powerful authors who have given us books to cubage the way we see the world. @thereadingwomen #thereadingwomen #readathon #readmorewomen

Wow. I'm just. I can't.
If I feel like this after the graphic novel, I can't imagine how I'll feel after reading the original.
Since I'm incoherent from having my mind blown, here's a screen shot of the end of Nnedi Okorafor's introduction.
#diversereads #readmorewomen

vivastory I read the original last week. It is one of the greatest time travel novels of all time, it is also one of the greatest imaginative takes on slavery I've read. Loved it. 8y
angrylilasian @vivastory I can't wait to read it! Now I want to read everything by her! 8y

I've been numb and sick over this election. So after I put my kids to bed, I rushed to my favorite feminist bookstore. I talked to the woman behind the counter and we both got emotional. Then I wandered around just taking comfort in how these women who wrote these books will not be silenced. ❤️💛💚💙💜#readmorediversebooks #readmorewomen

BooksForEmpathy Perfect sentiment. Thanks for this post. 8y
