But Not Too Bold | Hache Pueyo

I‘m not sure where my head was yesterday when I posted my May book bracket pick — but I need to revise it! My top choice for May is “Not Too Bold“ by Hache Pueyo. It‘s a hauntingly beautiful story: original, unsettling, and deeply moving. At its core, it‘s about love — the kind that embraces someone completely, both because of and in spite of who they are... WildAlaskaBibliophile It‘s a short read, but incredibly satisfying. I only wish more authors understood that you don‘t need hundreds of pages to create something this magical.

**My previous top choice for May, “Snapdragon“ is now a wild card selection. 😊

This one is about 1/3 fiction (the folk tales) and 2/3 nonfiction… so I‘m running with it as nonfiction.

This was actually an easy choice for me. Honestly, this one stuck with me for days after I finished.

Snapdragon | Kat Leyh

May was a fantastic reading month, making it tough to pick a favorite! In the end, Snapdragon by Kat Leyh narrowly edged out Fire From the Sky by Moa Backe Åstot to claim the top spot.

It really was a tough call this month between Fredrik Backman‘s MY FRIENDS and Alison Espach‘s THE WEDDING PEOPLE. I went with WP basically because it was the first book I‘ve read by this author, whereas I‘ve read several Backmans so I sort of knew what to expect.

Meshell1313 Ooh fun! And you still have all your wildcard spots open! 1d
CSeydel @Meshell1313 Yep! I‘m pretty sure My Friends is going to get one 😉 1d

April wasn't a great month of reading. What I read was just okay, so while I pick Scalzi's “When the Moon Hits Your Eye“ as my top pick for April, it only comes with a so-so approval rating. I am moving it forward over The Black Cat Tail Assassins, but that's only because I felt just so-so about that book too. #bookbracket #2025bookbracket #readingbracket #readingbracket2025
