#ReadingWomenMonth Bingo update 2: This week I've finished:
A Woman Is No Man - Muslim Author
An Extraordinary Union - Romance Novel
If They Come For Us - Borrowed Book (from library)
Co-Creating: A Feminist Vision of Ministry - On Feminism
And I'm working on the yellow underlined ones.

Any recs for kiddie lit by a woman available on #Hoopla?

Scochrane26 The warriors series for kiddie lit. My friend‘s daughter has read most of them, & I read Into the Wild for a book challenge. They‘re about cats but can be confusing because there‘s a lot of them. Into the Wild is the first one. By Erin hunter (edited) 6y
Scochrane26 A Wrinkle in time & Anne of green gables are also on there. The secret garden. Dork diaries are very popular now. (edited) 6y
Caterina @Scochrane26 Thanks so much!! Those are great recs! 😊 6y
emtobiasz I loved this one, which is on audio on Hoopla: 6y

Is anyone else doing the #ReadingWomenMonth bingo card? So far in June I've read:
Road Trip: Storm of Locusts, by Rebecca Roanhorse
Summer Read: Just for Clicks, by Kara McDowell
Short Stories: Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship, and Dangerous Hobbies, by JK Rowling
True Crime: The Library Book, by Susan Orlean
And I'm working on the tagged for YA by WOC.
Any recs for a female Aussie author?

Simona 🙋‍♀️ So far I finished for Asian Author - Where Reasons End by Yiyun Li and for Rural Settings Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss, and I‘m currently reading Forward by Abby Wambach for LGBTQ. 6y
Caterina @Simona Yay I'm so excited you're doing it too! Those all sound like great picks. Maybe I'll try to get my hands on one of them for those spots. 😊 6y
Simona I didn‘t write the reviews, but both of them were between so-so and pick ... 6y
Caterina @Simona Good to know! 👍 6y

So I said I'd start this book tonight when I saw @ephemeralwaltz had started it and I'd posted about it for #readingwomenmonth I think it's safe to say I'll probably finish this one tonight and that I'm enjoying it so far. How are you finding it?
I'm also reading roughly 2 chapters a day for #lolitalightofmyreadathon and got through my four chapters of that last night. The prose so far is lovely but not fully going into the story quite yet.

Sophoclessweetheart Wonderful! Can‘t wait to discuss 😀 6y
ephemeralwaltz Crazy!! You're so fast! I'm 41% in, I can't put it down either. 6y
Weaponxgirl @ephemeralwaltz working a night has a lot to do with it honestly. Once cleaning is done and it's just regular checks if people are asleep I find reading is something keeps me awake but means I can hear anything if there's a problem (edited) 6y
Andrew65 Definitely sounds as if I need to read it! 6y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Do they have one for July?? We missed you yesterday 😓😓😓😓 6y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve not seen one but have reached that crazy time of year where the next three weeks I could fill my time 10 times over at work. Reading will be difficult over the next two weeks in particular whilst I read and write 400 reports along with everything else. Have now got a copy of the book just need to find time to catch up! 😳 I missed taking part! 😒 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Andrew65 I totally understand!! Just know you are missed!! 😊💛 6y
Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks That means a lot. Thanks 😊😍 6y
Weaponxgirl Looks good! 6y
Andrew65 @Weaponxgirl Thanks 😊 6y

Completing my #ReadingWomenMonth posts for June.
For #Fantasy I have gone for Robin Hobb and the world she created! Only read the first trilogy but KNOW I will be reading the others. Thoroughly recommended.

AlaMich I tried to order the Tawny Man trilogy in that same Harper Voyager edition from Amazon because I love the covers. Amazon sent me a different, horrible edition with this long-haired blond dude—their idea of Fitz I guess— on the covers instead. False advertising!! 😠 (edited) 6y
Andrew65 @AlaMich That‘s awful. Wnat you See is what you should get. Why have so many different covers. 6y
EadieB @Alamich you should contact Amazon and complain. When that happened to me, they gave me my money back and I got to keep the books. (edited) 6y

ephemeralwaltz Great! I'm not a fantasy reader at all but have heard lovely things from this author! 6y
Andrew65 @ephemeralwaltz I wasn‘t either but just treat it as historical fiction of a land I do not know. 😂 It is wonderfully written. 6y
ephemeralwaltz @Andrew65 I had never thought of it that way! 😂😂 6y
Andrew65 @ephemeralwaltz I‘m always thinking outside the box! 🤪 6y
AlaMich @EadieB this was a few months ago, and I just returned them. (edited) 6y
AlaMich @ephemeralwaltz You should give them a try! There are definitely fantasy elements—one of the trilogies in the series does feature sentient, talking ships 😉—but they are well-written and just good! 6y
EadieB @Alamich A lot of times if you complain they will just give your money back because they don‘t want bad feedback. Try it next time! 6y
ephemeralwaltz @AlaMich I'll keep it in mind! thanks for the recommendation 6y
AlaMich @EadieB I will! Thanks! 6y

Here are some books from my current TBR, all written by women, and all to be read in July and August. I‘m really excited to get to all of these!

Kaye Water for Elephants is so good. The audio is also excellent for it. 6y
Erinreadsthebooks Agreed 👆🏼 I loved Water for Elephants! 6y
ravenlee I just read Bear and the Nightingale, and the sequel. Bear took a little while to get into, as there's quite a bit of build-up. But sooo good. 6y

The last day of #readingwomenmonth and #diversespines and both have the prompt #tbr. I recently joined my libraries bookclub and I picked this one out last month for us to read in July.
It's about the Caribbean immigrant experience in the uk and I think it's a particularly good choice considering just how disgusting my government has been to the windrush generation recently.
I've loved these challenges and everyone's recommendations!

Bookwomble I was going to say what a coincidence it is that the book you're reading and the one I've just finished - very different from each other - should have put us both in mind of the Windrush scandal, but as it's happening now, I guess it's hard not to be confronted with it. 6y
Weaponxgirl @Bookwomble I know that I always read books and in my head compare them to things that are happening at the moment, I think a great book allows you to do that. Strangely enough I didn't twig at the time of picking this that I'd picked a very politically relevant book only when I thought about it now. Should make for an interesting bookclub. 6y
