It‘s clouded up & the sun has fled, but I am enjoying a late afternoon read on my porch.
We visited a tulip farm in Preston, CT & had our pick of tulips.Ten with the price of admission. There were 3 of us so we left with thirty gorgeous blooms. They make me happy! 🌹🌹🌷🌷

I found this receipt tucked into the book I‘m starting today. I was confused by shipping charges from my local indie. I order online from them a lot but I drive the short distance to pick up my order when it‘s ready. Then I checked the date: April 12, 2020. It must have been one of the first orders I placed during lockdown once they were allowed to have one or two employees at a time working to keep their business afloat.

I fell behind on this series. I wish I hadn‘t, but this was the perfect book to break a slump. I love Harris‘s writing style, and it‘s great to be back in her version of Regency England with Sebastian and friends. The ending felt a bit rushed and too neat, but I can overlook that in favor of the joy I get from reading the rest. Too dark to be considered a cozy, but not so graphic as to be unbearably traumatizing. TW in comments.

DGRachel There‘s brief mention of rape and child sexual abuse, in addition to the murders/mutilations. It‘s not graphic, but if it‘s something you are really sensitive to, it does kind of come out of nowhere and could be triggering. 2w
robinb My thoughts on this series exactly. 😊 I just purchased the latest a few days ago and am looking forward to reading it. 2w
DGRachel @robinb I knew I was behind but I didn‘t realize just how far behind. 😭 I don‘t know what happened as this used to be one of the very few series I read the second the books came out. 2w
robinb @DGRachel same here! I fell behind by about 3-4 books and then had a St. Cyr marathon. 😄 2w

I might have been on a tiny little murder spree these past weeks, thanks to #EasterCrime. @Leniverse

My latest adventure took me to Regency London where Sebastian St. Cyr was on the hunt for the person who murdered a bishop. A case that revealed secrets that had been buried for decades.

TheSpineView As long as the murder spree is just fiction it works. You know it is a good week when you don't have to hide a body.🤣🤣🤣 3w

Widowed Lily Adler is just trying to get back into society when a young blackmailer is found murdered at her friend‘s ball. And she is desperate to see justice done.

This was a really sweet cozy mystery. All of the characters felt fleshed out, the setting was well done, & the pacing was great. I did predict the culprit, but the mystery kept me guessing on motives. Definitely going to put a hold on the next one! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

random_michelle I've read all of the books in this series most of her Nightingale Lounge series.

What I love most is all the inclusion she has--and that gets stronger as the series progresses.

BookmarkTavern @random_michelle I hadn‘t realized it was the same author! 😅 I love that series! I‘m looking forward to more of this one! I‘ve already got Silence in the Library on hold. (edited) 1mo
random_michelle I ended up buying the whole series because I enjoyed it so much. I especially like Hartley--I haven't found a lot of books that address the fact that many of the first English colonists tended to take Indian wives--at least until women started to go to India as well.

This is one of only three series I can think of off the top of my head that has a significant character who is a child of one of those unions. :)

Eighteenth in the Sebastian St. Cyr historical mystery series finds Sebastian (on the eve of Napoleon‘s second wave of forces) drawn into the murder investigation of a major with a long list of enemies…his mistress, his wife, and their governess, a fellow officer and a list of Napoleon‘s spies that he is transporting to the Regent. This one also adds in the intriguing side interests of old English folklore and the occult.
Lots going on 🔻

robinb in this one, turns and twists, and I enjoyed every moment. Harris is a pro at her historical research and at continuing to develop her characters who have never become static or boring during this enduring series. Her books are always auto-buys for me. 4.5/5 #BookSpin (edited) 2mo

I loved these two historical romances that capture the magic of Christmas and have you rooting for the characters who are flawed yet so deserving of love. There is a reason that Mary Balogh is one of the best! #romantsy #wintergames #restinggrinchface #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

Obi modeling books for me today. I loved this book- and hope to read more by this author. It reminded me of a little P&P and S&S and also a sort of kind of Charles Dickens vibe but a much longer happy part of the story- hence Jane Austen‘s…. A poor but sweet girl trying to make her way in the world before and after being reunited with family. Also, romance. @julieclair this and next book will be in the mail to you tomorrow morning.

Librarybelle Cats are great book models! 😻 5mo
