Here is what I'm currently reading:
Fractured Tide by Leslie Lutz - really enjoying it so far. I love that it's told in entries
Fear (Gone #5) by Michael Grant - interesting direction the series has taken the last 2 books

I loved this so much!
I think the pacing is absolutely perfect. Not too slow, but slow enough to really catch onto how reality TV breeds corruption & manipulation. 👌
I definitely wanted more from the ending though, like seeing how the contestants adjusted to the “outside world” after leaving the show.

Many years ago in eight grade, we had to do a report on a book set in a different country. Everyone had already chosen the popular books of that time and my librarian showed me this book to read. It was so influential to me and I lost the name for years until one day with the help of google, I was able to find it.
A boy left alone after his family was taken, tries to find his way home. Set in Russia from the early 1920s. JF
I picked it up because I've never read a horror story set in the desert, and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a pretty effective, tight thriller. 270 pages flew by! I thought I guessed the twist pretty early, but started to doubt myself as the story continued, which matches the mentality of the characters, and that's pretty impressive. TR: Discussion of rape, though the event is not described.
I'm not really sure what to think of all of this, overall, but I do believe that if this young man had listened to advice, taken precautions, and been better prepared, he would have been able to survive. I think we share a lot of personality traits and opinions, but at the same time, for being so academically smart, he made some foolhardy choices that led to his demise.
Summer 1985, & two young mountaineers, Joe & Simon, set off from camp to climb a route no-one had conquered before. After several days they reached the summit with a few minor issues, but when setting off back down Joe has a catastrophic accident resulting in him breaking his leg. Disaster! Although Simon initially tries to belay Joe down the mountain, a snow storm develops which results in him having to leave Joe for dead.

Went for a drive to my fave local #LittleFreeLibrary & found these gems💎 It was my last visit for this year, as it‘s not operational during the winter.
Two men went out fishing in a small boat off the coast of Mexico and were caught in a storm. Their boat was disabled and ended up drifting across the Pacific all the way to the Marshal Islands. If, like me, you found the on the sea part of A Marriage at Sea a little thin, this is the book for you. Salvador is an extraordinary man with a great attitude, and I loved this book.
