Thank you, @Aimeesue. Your post was very inspiring. I made a list of a few things I learned from novels. I'm sure some of them will help me survive whatever form of apocalyptic event we're facing. Especially since i learned so much more from non-fiction books and growing up in a rural area behind the Iron Curtain.

julesG @Chrissyreadit I grew up in East Germany and now live in what used to be West Germany. Growing up in East Germany in the 1980s was like growing up in the 50/60s in Western Europe. I often say that I've had the pleasure of living in four or even five decades before I turned 20, based on how backward the GDR was and my rural area on top of that. 4y

I managed to finish it just before the show dropped a few hours early. I‘ve been reluctant to review, fearing it would be biased by the show. I picked up new little details I totally missed before. I loved it even more than the first time, then the show was awesome, too. This is officially a double pick, and the show makes it a triple pick.

GingerAntics @TobeyTheScavengerMonk when I first saw that scene, I half wondered if David somehow had a hand to play in that role, because it‘s so him. I guess in an informal way, it is him. I agree with Gaiman, not every actor could pull off that scene without it just being campy. 5y
