The Air You Breathe: A Novel | Frances de Pontes Peebles

When you bake fresh gingerbread from scratch, including hand rasping the fresh ginger, you are allowed to eat said gingerbread for dinner with whipped cream.
(Pretty sure I heard that somewhere, right?)
Also, I‘m starting this book tonight. I loved the author‘s talk at #TXBookFest2018.

Against Memoir: Complaints, Confessions & Criticisms | Michelle Tea

I only bought 2 books at this year‘s #TXBookFest. But I added others to my TBR, and put two on hold from the library. These are from the Queer Publishing Today panel, which was probably my favorite of the fest. The authors talked about zines, which really brought back memories! And about the importance of small queer friendly publishing houses. Kaulfus is an Austin local trans author.

kgriffith Part of sort of spearheading the library project at my local equality center has included getting to catalog all of the small press lesbian fic we‘ve had donated from the 90s and before. It‘s an incredible chunk of history. 6y

BookNAround If you‘re interested in small LGBTQ presses, take a look at Bywater Books out of Ann Arbor. I read and enjoyed two of their books this summer. 6y

Soubhiville @kgriffith that‘s really cool! I read that kind of thing voraciously as it was recommended to me in the early 2000‘s, but I‘m a little less in the loop these days. One of my favorite things about book fests is taking notes of all the authors and book titles spoken of during the panels! 6y
