I got my local library card today. I feel like it was a good way to celebrate being here 4 weeks! My one reading goal this year is to #readmyowndamnbooks, but of course I had to check a couple out as well.

Cerulean Sea was on their $1 paperback FOTL shelf, and I couldn‘t resist. I loaned out my original copy and it never came back to me. I‘ll definitely reread it at some point!

Both of the other authors were at #TXBookFest last year 😁.

AmyG 4 weeks already? 11mo
Soubhiville @AmyG I know! Time flies. 11mo
Matilda I JUST finished Inverse Cowgirl 11mo

#Bookspin remains my favorite monthly challenge, helping me choose a couple of the books off my shelf and library holds lists.

I actually started Starter Villain yesterday, so that‘s perfect! And my #Doublespin in January is Stories from the Tenants Downstairs, which I‘ve been wanting to read since the year I saw the author at #TXBookFest.

Thanks Sarah @TheAromaofBooks for continuing to host!

#readmyowndamnbooks 😆😁📚

Megabooks Starter Villain is hilarious!! 12mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Enjoy!! Love that cover for the Tenants Downstairs! 12mo

My favorite panel of the day was with GR Macallister and Rebecca Roanhorse. I haven‘t read either of these books yet, but I‘m looking forward to them.

lynneamch Oh man. Wish I'd been there. I follow Greer on Facebook and she's been posting about it today. On Litsy, she's @theladygreer 2y
TNbookworm Loved Scorpica, I love her historical fiction as well! 2y
Hooked_on_books I didn‘t know GM had written a fantasy book! Her Litsy posts are lovely—she definitely makes an effort to elevate other female authors, and I love that. 2y

@monalyisha I early voted on the first day, but didn‘t do the sticker selfie thang, so here is a photo of the TX state capital today during the #TXBookFest. Can I count this for my #AuldLangSpine entry? I‘m going to email you now.

First day of the fest was great!

monalyisha Yes! Email received (& responded to). 💯 2y
Soubhiville @monalyisha yay! Thank you! I‘m looking forward to joining this year. 2y

Texas Book Festival is this weekend! I spent an hour or so today figuring out which panels I‘m going to see- always a tough decision with so many authors!

Anyone else planning on attending?
#TexasBookFestival #TxBookFest

AmyG Have a wonderful time!!! 2y
Christy2318 My friend and I are going to see Janet Evanovich. I wasn‘t very excited by any of the panels this year. 2y
MemoirsForMe How cool! Have fun! 2y

ChaoticMissAdventures Portland 's book festival is this weekend too!! 2y
Hooked_on_books That‘s so exciting! I‘ve loved the author talks I‘ve been to. 2y
Soubhiville @Christy2318 Have fun! There aren‘t a lot of authors I‘m very familiar with, but a lot of the panel topics sound good. I‘m looking forward to the environmental ones. 2y
Fortifiedbybooks I miss the Texas Book Festival. I've been to a couple of other similar events in the different states I've lived in since leaving Texas, but none of them are as great as the Texas Book Festival! 2y

I added this to my TBR after seeing the author speak at #TXBookFest a couple years ago. I don‘t read poetry very often, as I often don‘t enjoy it and it can make my mind wander a lot.

There were parts of this I really liked. As a backyard birdwatcher, I know a lot of the birds listed here. I enjoyed the descriptions of birding environments, and the addition of the author‘s experiences bird watching as a black man are important to hear.

I heard Bill Kinigsberg speak last weekend during the #TexasTeenBookFestival. The panel he was on was about mental health, and this book is the most unique book I‘ve ever read about suicide and depression.

I‘m so very glad that books like this exist now, and wish they did when I was a kid. I am going to put a copy in my Little Free Library and hope it finds its way into hands that it can help.

I‘m definitely a fan of Bennett‘s writing. This was my first by her, but I‘ll be reading The Mothers in November.

I was drawn in to the story from the first, and was thinking about it even when I had to put it down. I hope she‘ll write many more.

Thanks for sharing this with me @Hooked_on_books ! I loved it. I‘m very much looking foreword to seeing the author speak at #TXBookFest in the next couple of weeks!

Hooked_on_books You‘re welcome! I‘m so glad you enjoyed it! I just loved this one. I think it‘s much better than The Mothers, so I‘ll be interested to see what you think of that one. 4y
AmyG I really liked this one, too. I might have liked The Mothers even more. She‘s a wonderful writer. 4y
rachaich I've just finished The Mothers. It was brilliant 😊😍 4y

Attended an interesting panel discussing cultural obsession of women and violence. Fascinating and disheartening. I‘ve stacked both books discussed (I‘ll tag other books in comments) and will hopefully be able to read them in the new year. #txbookfest #txbookfestival

DebinHawaii I have that one Disappearing Earth but haven‘t started it yet. 5y
Suet624 I really liked Disappearing Earth. 5y
EKonrad Sounds interesting. I loved Savage Appetites, so I‘ll have to check out Disappearing Earth. Thanks for the recommendation! 5y

Ruta Sepetys at #TXBookFest. She talked a lot about the research she does for her historical fiction.

She told a story of a co-bookclub reading of her book- a group of elementary school kids and a senior center. The school kids got bussed to the senior center to discuss the book. How cool is that?

AmyG That is so wonderful....for both groups. I love that. 5y
squirrelbrain That sounds like a great idea! 💡 5y
Lindy What a great book club! 5y
