I so wanted to love this book. The writing is beautiful and the story is slow and introspective - things I am drawn to in novels. Unfortunately I never felt engaged with the story and found myself bored.

Tillie is the real deal! Her drawings are great and the stories she tells are fascinating. This one is a memoir. Check her out!

This book was not as good as I had hoped. The writing is fine and very atmospheric. But the plot seemed awkwardly put together and the characters fell flat.

Mehso-so

Though the premise of this book was fascinating, I was disappointed in the execution. I was not particularly invested in any of the characters and I found the writing somewhat too clinical for my taste. It was compelling enough for me to finish, however. It would be an interesting book to discuss for a book club!

This book is blowing me away! My daughter (half of @GameAndRead ) and I chose 12 Pulitzer Prize winning novels to read this year and this is January's pick. I am looking forward to discussing it with her as I think part of my reaction is due to my age/current place in life. I love books so much!

The Atomic Weight of Love | Elizabeth J. Church
post image
Pickpick

I enjoyed The Atomic Weight of Love and I look forward to more books by this author. The book covers a lifetime of the main character and I would have liked more time spent in some of the parts of her life. I would have liked some of the characters to have more depth as well. That is mostly personal preference though. The challenges of being a woman in the 1950's were highlighted and I found that quite interesting.

Mehso-so

This book has received a lot of hype, which may have raised my expectations too high. I thought the ideas behind the plot were interesting. It was a very fast paced book and I bet it will make a great movie. However, the characters were not developed enough for my tastes and I found myself skimming through the end.
