I'm currently really struggling to read, but I found listening to this very interesting book did help somewhat to get me out of my slump.

This was really so informative and fascinating. I didn't realise how easy our eating habits are influenced by our environment. I truly believed myself above this, but was so shocked at how many things I thought was my choice only to realise that it was really the things around me.

I'm so glad I stuck with this series. While I didn't enjoyed the first two books as much as VA the last part of book 2 really made me want to read the next one. And I'm glad to report that it's back to VA standards.
This have everything I loved in VA. Quick paced, action pack and a sprinkle of love.

I love Sage's character growth. And I was surprised to learn some of her trades I found annoying, might not be her at all.

Enchanted_Bibliophile Can't wait for the next one, especially with that twist thrown in at the end. 1y

After finishing the Mortal Instruments earlier this year, I decided to continue with the Shadowhunter books. But realised I didn't read these 4 short stories yet. So I worked these short stories in, between my reading so that I can start The Eldest Cures next.

I enjoyed most of the stories in this compilation.

This is listed as 12.5 in the Pendergast series. In this one, Pendergast tells a nasty little tale of the local New Orleans tooth fairy ⚜️

I can't believe I've never read this before. I think I've seen so many adaptations that I thought I did.
I enjoyed this quick voyage around the world, adventurous with a hint of suspense.

PaperbackPirate I always see hot air balloons on the cover of this book so I was surprised they never flew in one. But I liked it too. 🧐 (edited) 1y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @PaperbackPirate I've seen an adaptation with a hot air balloon once. But I was also surprised at how different the book and adaptation are. 1y
PaperbackPirate That‘s surprising. I wonder how the author would feel about that. 1y

Enchanted_Bibliophile @PaperbackPirate It took me a while to find it again. But it was the 1956 film starring David Niven. 1y
PaperbackPirate Oh yes! The movie was different! Maybe that‘s why people add the balloon to the cover. 1y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @PaperbackPirate I might have been a movie cover edition? 1y

I've said it before and I'm sticking to it: I'm over Jack & Jill.
I feel their story was told and that we can move on.
And I really don't see the relevance of this story.

However it did answer one question I've had ever since the start of the series - can people travel both ways? Like can people who live in the Moors find a door to our world?

dabbe Is the setting the hell that is Phoenix in the summer? 🤣🤣🤣 2y
CBee @dabbe ha! I think Alabama is about the same except we get the extra fresh hell that is humidity 🥵 This one is set in Ohio! 2y
dabbe @CBee Oh yeah, the humidity. Everyone says Phoenix is a dry heat, and it is ... until monsoon season. Then it's 115 with 70-90% dew point. Is Alabama like 90% and 90% humidity? That would be the worst. I visited Hong Kong years ago in April, and that was the weather. All I did was stay in the hotel and sit in front of the air conditioner. 🤣 2y
CBee @dabbe that‘s about right! When you walk outside it‘s like walking through soup 🥵😩 2y

February catchup review 2:
This one was been on my shelf for a few years now and I‘m so glad I finally got around to it. It ended being one of my favorites this month and might even make it on the year end list I loved it so much.

It takes place during the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic and follows the Bright family as the lose loved ones, take in an orphaned baby, and learn to navigate the aftermath of the pandemic. It‘s harrowing and hopeful… ⬇️

MeganAnn … there is loss and death, love and strength, and it promises that we too can continue on and even find happiness in the aftermath. I think this one was even more compelling having read it after our own pandemic experience. 5⭐️ Also love this beautiful cover! 💖 #pantone2023 #airyblue #skylight #graylilac @Clwojick 2y

2½✨
Still action packed with unforeseen twists and surprises.
But not as good as the first book. The ending is a major pet peeve of mine... and impacts my rating big time.

I now have double the amount of questions I had at the end of the first book, so I'm hoping the third book will not disappoint.

TheSpineView Some the middle bookmof a series is justxa set-up for tge next book. With any luck the 3rd book will be good. 2y
Enchanted_Bibliophile @TheSpineView Jip, this was definitely a set-up scenario. 2y
Clwojick Great job! 2y
Andrew65 I suppose without so-so books we wouldn‘t recognise the excellent books. Well done 👏👏👏 2y

Totally adorable! Sweet and salty, had me worried for a minute but came through strong at the end! Loved these characters and the slow burn they made us wait through. #BookspinBingo #romantsy #Loveathon @TheAromaofBooks #Pantone2023 #AiryBlue #TenderPeach @Clwojick
