I don‘t know how this got on my radar. It seemed like it would be too YA for me. It was not.
A library of magical books. Two estranged sisters. One stays at home and protects the library. The other stays far from home and never remains in any one place too long. Mystery, magic, romance, family. I loved it all.
A slightly slow start but the pacing got better and better throughout and by midpoint I didn‘t want to set it down.

Memories of Montserrat | Dr. Irene S. Prospere

#readingtheamericas23

I hate to pan books but this was…not good. 😬

I did learn a tiny bit about the customs of #montserrat but the author mainly talked about people she knew and their foibles (in a way that felt slightly derogatory) but that had no relevance to a book about a country.

There were also a lot of spelling mistakes, including the same word spelt differently in two consecutive sentences.

Still, it fulfils two prompts! 😁

A short-ish read/listen about how to live more productively with our devices. There are a couple of takeaways that I will try to put into practise.
Can be included for #52books23 #analliterativetitle

I only finished this because of an upcoming book discussion…

For a long lasting series, this just wasn‘t for me. The female MC is made to feel stupid - she sometimes says the wrong words - but then at times plays up on this “stupidity.” While cozies are not usually the best written nor have the most original plot lines, this one just seemed way too scattered and chaotic and almost folksy. Not for me, but the chocolate sounds yummy! #192025 #2002

Librarybelle Thanks! We all encounter books not quite to our liking, but I‘m glad this filled a prompt. @BarbaraBB @LaraReads @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain 1y
