Bk3 of August was finished a week or more ago. I am still trying to read even if I‘m not posting here, struggling with life a bit still. My daughter just bought me two new books as a gift, including the latest in this Will Trent series so I‘m powering through the rereads to get to it. Another top entry by Slaughter, this one centres on Angie, Wills hateful wife. She def knows how to write damaged women. #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon

Bk2 of August is done. Crap picture but I only have the ebook of this one. My 2nd favourite Will Trent, it brings back the OTHER mean girl in Sara‘s life, Lena Adams. The woman responsible for Jeffrey‘s death is now embroiled in Wills undercover operation so naturally, Wills life is on the line. And naturally he doesn‘t tell Sara which is the worst decision he makes. Lena & her husband Jared, Jeffrey‘s son(ick)are ambushed at home & nearly killed👇

Lizpixie And undercover GBI agent Will Trent is the unknowing lookout for the crime. A huge clusterf*ck of immense proportions ensues. Brilliant book in a brilliant series from a brilliant writer. Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon #ReadAway2024 #FourFoursIn24 3mo

I finally finished my first book of August. Yay me! But I checked my GR goal & it‘s abysmal☹️I loved this book, the 5th in her All Souls chronicles. It was far from perfect, but I loved that there was a lot more magic & witchy vibes than the previous books. I also liked that the twins are older with more storyline as well. Loved the Procters & Ravenswood, but I‘m still waiting on Gallowglass or Phillippe & Ysabeau‘s stories! #SeriesLove2024 👇

LeeRHarry Glad you enjoyed it. I‘m hanging for a Gallowglass book too! 3mo

Hi everyone!👋I‘m slowly climbing out of a pit of misery with a few rereads & audiobooks. For 8 weeks I‘ve been going through pharma hell with my oh so shortsighted government pulling the pin on an essential med that for a lot of Aussies is the only option for pain relief & has meant going thru the hell of switching to a greatly inferior substitute. Doing anything was a nightmare, even concentrating on reading. Lucky I had this imp to distract me🩵

Lizpixie @TEArificbooks Chronic pain is the single worst symptom of my condition. It just grinds you down, day after day, for 26yrs, and that‘s on top of everything else that comes with my disease. Bk3 of June is done. The 2nd Royal NF I was tandem reading was a much better experience, reading wise. This couple was once again, awful people. The Duke was absolutely in the grip of Wallis, and had no thought for anything but her. The damage they did could have been catastrophic, not just to Britain, but the whole world if they‘d been able to help the Third Reich as they‘d planned. Even after the war, tried to finagle their way back into power👇

Lizpixie and influence. I was appalled at the lengths they went to to wrest power back from the King, the amount of people who perished just through his advice to Hitler that continued the Blitz in WWII must have been horrific. That alone was shocking but there‘s much more in this meticulously researched book that beggars belief. History remembers them much kinder than they deserve. #BookspinBingo #ReadAway2024 5mo

Bk2 of June is done. This will be quickly followed by The Traitor King review. I liked the latter much more than this one, much better written in my opinion. The similarities between the two couples is astonishing. At times it‘s like reading a modern version of the Windsors, the men both weak selfish fools who‘ll do anything for the woman they‘re obsessed with, the women both vain ambitious cold women who‘ll play anyone to get what they want.👇

I‘m after recces for really good NF about WW2 drama and intrigue from the Brits, inspired by this brilliant book about the abdicated Duke & Duchess of Windsor and their many & convoluted ties to Hitler & Nazi Germany from before the war till the fall of the Reich. From their friendship(or affairs with)Ribbentrop(diplomat then Foreign Minister to Nazi Germany)to their agreement to be reinstated as King under a Fascist Govt when Hitler won the war.👇

Lizpixie It needs to be well written, easy to follow or at least put together well about intelligence offices of all the allies and give a deeply interesting picture of a world at war. Recommend away! Plus any that follow like the aftermath in Europe, the Nuremberg trials etc, Mussolini & Vichy France with collaborators and the resistance. Onto Korea, Vietnam etc. I know it‘s a wide net to cast but I‘ve read a lot of trash & want better please.🪖💼🎞️🇬🇧 (edited) 5mo
Lizpixie I‘d also take recommendations for tv or movie documentaries about the same subject that aren‘t sensationalised either 5mo
Lizpixie @CarolynM thanks! Have you read this yourself? 👆Is the youngest Baba Metcalfe, married to Fruity Metcalfe who was the Duke of Windsors best man? (edited) 5mo

Currently tandem reading these, the tagged as an audiobook, the other physical. Am quite shocked by the similarities between the couples,I knew they‘d been compared in media, but the extent of the same weak will & petulance by both men & the hard core belief in their own importance by the women is amazing. The main difference seems to be that at least the Duke of Windsor believed in King & Country. Though he & Wallis were in talks with Germany!😱

CarolynM Sounds like a good pairing of books. How have you been, Liz? Hope you‘re feeling better than earlier in the year💕 5mo
Lizpixie @CarolynM Hey lovely! The books are paired really well, look above for my reviews of both. Unfortunately the health is still awful, if not worse. Bk1 of June & #20in4 #readathon is done! I was completely surprised by how entertaining this was. For an independently published paranormal romance, written by a group of writers,it wasn‘t bad. Bk6 of May is done! Felt like something light & funny & this did not disappoint. I very much enjoyed this paranormal romance, it reminded me of Jenny Colgan except with fangs, pointy ears & howling. Misery is used to being a pawn between her people, Vampyres, & the humans so when she‘s told she‘ll now be one to the Weres, she agrees. Only coz she‘s looking for her only friend who‘s disappeared. What she doesn‘t expect is to fall for their Alpha.👇

This is bk1, written in 1987 it‘s a bit dated of course(telephone boxes, cassette tapes & questionable fashion😋)but the story still stands up. Banks is new in Eastvale, a town in the Yorkshire Dales, when 3 things happen, breakins by two teens, a peeping Tom & the murder of an old woman. Bk3 of March is the 2nd Prefect Dreyfus Emergency. I‘m loving this series, so much so I‘ve put the authors backlist on my wishlist.Dreyfus is now Senior Prefect after Aurora & the Clockmaker but still works in the field when people start dying after their neural implants melt their brains. A world of hyperpigs, abstraction, light hugger ships, augmented humans & quickmatter! #SeriesLove2024 #BacklistReadathon #Readaway2024 #BookspinBingo

My 1st bk of March is the latest in the Crescent City series. I enjoyed it, but I thought the connection to ACOTAR could‘ve been used more effectively. I like how it concluded I suppose but it wasn‘t the big finish I was hoping for. Bit of a bummer, but still a good read. #SeriesLove2024 #BookspinBingo #FourFoursIn24 #Readaway2024

Bk11 of this years #BookMail is a unique horror novel. Jack Sparks died while writing this book. Researching the occult for his new book, he‘d already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he‘d witnessed. Then there was the 40 seconds of chilling video that he claimed he didn‘t make yet was posted on his YT account. Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed, until now.

Bk5 of my recent #BookMail is the memoir/autobiography of the goddess herself, Barbra Streisand! One of the few to win the EGOT(Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)she is one of the most recognisable voices in music. I grew up watching her movies, Funny Girl, Hello Dolly, What‘s Up Doc, The Way We Were etc, she‘s a total iconoclast with a nose to match. Absolute Legend!
