pick“Dead Famous“ is a sharp, funny, and ultimately disturbing look at the dark side of reality television and the lengths people will go to for fame. It‘s a thought-provoking commentary on a culture where entertainment often trumps human decency, and where the line between reality and fiction becomes increasingly blurred.
pickI read this for the first time in 27 years. It was much more impactful to me at this point in my life compared to when I was in college. I had also forgotten most of the work itself. I started with the Audible adaptation with Andrew Garfield and enjoyed it so much, I then listened to Orwell‘s original work. It remains a thought-provoking, relevant work.
I am kinda undone with myself because I DNF'd 1984. I was doing the audio for a bookclub (pairing with Newman's Julia) and then when I was unable to make bookclub I realized there were other things I wanted to read more than 84 for the fourth or fifth time. But still it is lingering in my mind so i will likely pick the audio back up!
pickA reread, almost 30-years to the day that I last read it for A-Level English Literature. Wanted to reread before Sandra Newman‘s retelling, Julia. I loved it then and I loved it again now. Can I feel another Orwell deep dive coming on?
