Still working my way through this chunkster. I may finish it faster if I would stop reading 4 other books at the same time, but what's the fun in that? This was the first book that came to mind with Map prompts as well as Fathers Day ones bc Ned is one of the best dads in my opinion. #juneinbooks18 #fictionalfatherfigure #mapmonday #readingresolutions #bookishfathers #riotgrams #bookyouneverfinish

#ReadingResolutions #bookishfathers 📚

My 'bookish father' read to me almost every night until I could read on my own, then he let me read to him. He shared his favorite books with me and was instrumental in giving me my love of reading and books. I don't know if the quote I picked is true in every case, but I know my dad thought I was special and that we had a special relationship.
I miss him every day. 💜

“Silas had brought Bod food...for him to eat, but this was, as far as Bod was concerned, the least of the things that Silas did for him. He gave advice, cool, sensible, and unfailingly correct...he was unflappable and dependable, had been there every night of Bod‘s life...most of all, he made Bod feel safe.”

Happy father's day to all of you book loving dads! May you have less work and be more engaged today than Mr. Jones!

Pickpick

This immediately sprang to mind when thinking of #bookishfathers. Other than my own father, of course, but he'd kill me if I put his photo up on social media 😂😂. In this book, Meggie's father, Mo, can actually read characters out of stories and into real life. This is the first in a trilogy. I highly enjoyed the first two (but they're pretty dark), but of course haven't finished the last.

I credit my father for first getting me into reading for reading me Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair books at bedtime. He loved the tagged book, was obsessed with Sharpe and read the Harry Potter books after I recommend them. Took me to Hay on Wye and encouraged my writing and studying lit at uni.

My husband is also great, although I am the bedtime story person for our son, who makes me read many books about 🦕!

TrishB Lovely post 💜 my Dad taught me to read before I went to school as I was constantly asking him what things said in his newspapers! The school told my mum off that I had been ‘taught‘ wrong! I‘m still ok with my reading though 😁 6y
ladyonequestion @TrishB My parents attempted to teach my too, but I wasn't having any of it! I couldn't see the point then once I learnt I wanted to read everything! Luckily my parents encouraged it, although they wished they'd hidden some of the books afterwards 😁 6y

Two books I‘ve read with #bookishfathers
AJ Fikry, the cranky bookstore owner, loves books, especially short stories.
Margaret Lea‘s father owns an antiquarian bookshop and supports her bookish career as an amateur biographer.
