Today's photo in the #booksnbooze series is 'Holding' with a cloudy cider. Nothing hits the spot on a hot day like a pint of cider 🍻

That. Was. Intense. I mostly have no idea what the hell was going on. I feel like a bug 😆. That comment has context in the book. I feel compelled to finish the trilogy just to see if I figure stuff out.

Great #booksnbooze discussion, though! My book group, that is.

tessavi My boyrfiend is reading it and enjoying it as well. I'll pick it up someday! 5y

Huh. That was not what I was expecting. Definitely the most unusual Victorian-age historical I've read. Still unsure what my thoughts really are, but I'm sure my #booksnbooze book club discussion will clear that right up 😁😁

gossamerchild Oh yes. And my #readingbuddy, Huxley 😸😸 5y

Mehso-so

Well, hmm. That was. Hmm. I'd say a solid "okay". Somewhere between pick and so-so. I think the character of Frank was (probably unintentionally) problematic. I think I would've liked it better had it not been for that. Looking forward to my book club discussion of this tonight, though!

JazzFeathers It's on my TBR. It does sound like a difficult read 5y
gossamerchild @JazzFeathers the funny thing is, it wasn't that difficult to read, really. At least not for me. Her writing style is beautiful. I just question some of the directions the characters took. Still definitely worth reading! 5y

Yes. Why be myself if everything about the situation makes me uncomfortable and awkward? I've had these thoughts before. They're not fun thoughts.

Maybe just maybe I shouldn't encourage #huxleythecat to sit on my books? 🤔

Whoo hoo, book #3 done for #24in48! Doing these readathons really knocks down some of my #mounttbr, that's for sure.

Side note, what a weird book. Can't wait to read this with my work book group, #booksnbooze, because I have many thoughts.

Richryan52 @gossamerchild That is one of my all time favorite books 6y
ghosthost That‘s one of my favorites! 6y
JazzFeathers What a lovely edition! I've seen the film many times but haven't read the book yet. I heard it is quite different from the film. 6y
gossamerchild @ghosthost I've been waiting a while to respond this, because I'm still not sure what I thought about the first part of the book, where he seems to take pleasure in making fun of his wife and son. Is that satire? I don't know, it bothered me a little. Otherwise I very much enjoyed it. Yes, @JazzFeathers , it's a bit different, but still fun. @Richryan52 very cool! 6y
