Sounds like @Eggs and I are on the same wavelength. It‘s an ongoing project, but I‘ve been decluttering. The “reward” is that I‘ve found some childhood books I was looking for. 😃

#majicmonday

LeahBergen Ooo, which ones? 😀 2w
rubyslippersreads @LeahBergen I‘ll have to post some photos. 😁 2w

That didn‘t last nearly long enough but at least I‘m younger than when the author said you really need to start thinking about people dealing with your crap once you are dead. My parents, bless their hearts, totally dealt with their stuff ahead of time.

TEArificbooks Yeah my mom is a purger so she said I won‘t get a lot of money but at least I won‘t have to go through much stuff. I read Sipsworth and that lady was the last one left in her family so she got rid of everything, there was no one left to give heirlooms too so even got rid of her photo albums. Just kept the minimum number of clothes dishes etc. it did inspire me to let things go 3w
SamAnne My mom did an excellent job of purging. I am committed to tackling it this so this winter. 3w
mcctrish @TEArificbooks @SamAnne in the past I‘ve tried to give stuff away through Buy nothing groups or sell on FB marketplace but I get frustrated with messaging back and forth and I just want it all gone 3w

ncsufoxes After my dad passed away last year my mom purged a ton of stuff. My MIL on the other hand complains that no one wants all her junk. I do think about the amount of stuff we have (especially after moving last year). It‘s a goal of mine in the next few years to really start to go through things & purge. I know that my kids aren‘t going to want half of the stuff I find sentimental 3w
mcctrish @ncsufoxes I remember when my husband‘s grandmother asking me if I wanted her collection of jugs ( she had 50 at least) and I said I‘d love of couple ( wrong answer) in the will I got her second tier crystal and my sister law got the fur coat, sapphire ring and Diamond earrings 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ 3w
AmyG My kids didn‘t want most of their grandparents things. Only the mid-century modern furniture…they fought over that. No china, crystal etc. kind of sad. 3w
mcctrish @AmyG I‘m surprised with the crystal, cocktails are trending and served in old school glasses - I know I‘m thankful for the fancy glass wear I inherited and I‘d be happy to have china I didn‘t have to pay for ( but some of it is ridiculously fussy like Old Country Roses or whatever it‘s called - my Nana‘s second tier China 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ her top tier was GORGEOUS and my sister got it ) 3w
5feet.of.fury Oh man, I‘ve cleaned out after 2 relatives that were borderline hoarding situations and it was so stressful on top of already being sad and stressful. But people asked if I was going to get a storage unit, and I decided if I didn‘t need it now then I wasn‘t going to need it ever. We didn‘t have anything too fancy for heirlooms but I did keep the Pyrex with the green daisies. 3w
AmyG @mcctrish They took the old school barware. Anything mid-century. 3w
Bette When did the book say to start…I know I‘m behind. 🫣 3w
mcctrish @Bette by 65, I‘m just under the wire 3w
Susanita It‘s a daunting task for sure. 🥴 3w
Bette Rats…..I‘m behind 🫤😂 I better put down my book 📚🤣 3w

I laughed at this section probably more than I should have. 😂 Been decluttering preparing for a move that is going to be happening either in August or September so mortality has been peek-a-booing around every corner. 💀🪦🫠

A really interesting look at getting rid of things. Lots of tips and methods for deciding what to keep. A simple easy read. Though I disagree about the book parts. You can never have too many. 4*

An interesting look at tackling clutter and chaos in life. I loved the toothbrush theory as it makes so much sense. Really useful and gives you actual exercises to help get started. 4*

My #DoubleSpin for February was nice to read, but there were no mindset-shifting insights like I heard so many other readers have had. I did notice that there is another book with the same title but by Margaret Smith, and even the covers look similar so I wonder if I read the wrong book and everyone in the Minimalism community was raving about the other one? At least it's #OffMyShelf.

I will admit that I‘m not the person who this book is meant for as I‘m generally pretty good at keeping my house neat. That being said, I agree with her advice to start small like doing the dishes every day. I find her decluttering advice is more helpful so I like her other book just focused on that better. She does also get repetitive at times, which happens when you convert a blog to a book. Bonus pic is my boy Happy just loving the sun ☀️

An interesting look at decluttering. This takes a different approach to many other books of similar style and yet it's a method that could work. I liked the simplicity of it and can see myself using some of the tips featured in it especially the dishes as seen by my clear worktop. 3*

DogMomIrene She definitely keeps cleaning in good perspective. I‘m a perfectionist so shifting from the desire to have the perfectly cleaned home like it‘s a one and done kind of task to the more realistic view that cleaning is an ongoing task, everyday, was really helpful for me. 10mo
kezzlou85 @DogMomIrene she does we've just moved to a bigger house and it can feel overwhelming at times but this book helped put it back in perspective for me. 10mo
DogMomIrene @kezzlou85 If you want a refresh on her big ideas in another 6 months or year, check out . There‘s much less explanation of her ideas so it‘s less repetitive. It cuts to the point. 10mo
kezzlou85 @DogMomIrene thank you so much. I will check that out. 10mo

A thought provoking gentle look at the art of death cleaning. It's a clever idea and would benefit family members after a death. It's full of tips that could relate to any age group and has made me think more about what I have.
