My March #Bookspin wasn't spectacular. It didn't have much new information, but I'm happy that it wasn't a DNF, and it did remind me of why I continue to declutter and simplify my home and life. #COYER

Numbers 2 and 17 on my #Bookspin list for March - Simple Matters by Erin Boyle and The First Pillar by Roy Huff. Both qualify for #COYER

Repetitive advice from her other books, but still good reminders!

Right book for the state of mind I'm in. As someone who lives by myself and has a full time job and hobbies to keep me busy, I find it hard to find the energy to keep my place sparkling clean all of the time. I compare myself to others and feel like I'm doing something wrong by not being a minimalistic neat freak 🙈 This book wasn't life changing but had some good tips. More about changing your mindset about your mess than a how-to guide.

Billypar I definitely think our culture goes overboard on the minimalist aesthetic. Whenever I take photos for Litsy posts, I have to move an average of five random objects out of the way 😄 8mo
CaliforniaCay @Billypar Right?! I like the idea of being a minimalist but I like my stuff too much to actually be one 😅 8mo

This book inspired me to declutter (at least think about decluttering...LOL).

While the concept of Swedish Death Cleaning is similar to Marie Kondo's tidying up, there is a difference. Kondo has the reader keep what brings joy, Magnusson teaches us to think about the future, specifically how people will view our stuff – and whether they will want it – when we have passed. While the item brought joy in the past (i.e. skis), will it be of interest to anyone once we have passed? Interesting concept.

Listening to the audio book of this succinct, short instructional guide to preparing for what happens to all of your possessions when you die. I am finding it thought provoking as I have only thought of these preparations in a broad, general sense. A little humor thrown in the keep the subject matter from getting too serious.

Reading this book, I‘ve come to the conclusion that I‘m not actually ready to declutter (other than the baby stuff I‘ve already identified that really needs to be given away). I kept mentally protesting, “but I DO have room for more bookshelves!” My house doesn‘t have enough organizational stuff to take advantage of the space we have, and we don‘t use what we have well. I‘d prefer to make progress there before deciding my container is full.

Clare-Dragonfly But I really like her rules (and I think they‘re even better for when you‘re thinking of buying something) and her system. I may read this book again when I do want to declutter. And her writing style is fantastic and relatable, so I will be reading her other books. It looks like she did one on organizing so I‘ll go for that next! 11mo
RaeLovesToRead I'm trying to get myself in the decluttering mindset. I really dislike living under an enormous pile of stuff, but getting rid of stuff is so against my nature that it makes me anxious. Really though, why am I keeping clothes I haven't worn in several years? 11mo
Clare-Dragonfly @RaeLovesToRead If you haven‘t read this book, it might help! But borrow it from the library 😆 11mo
RaeLovesToRead All I heard you say was, "buy a new book" just then ? 11mo

I wouldn‘t buy this book, because clutter. But, this book was actually really helpful. It was a bit repetitive, but the author warns you at the beginning that it will be, so it‘s not like it comes as a surprise. The benefit is that, if you read the entire book, you‘ll have the technique memorized by the end of it, which was the whole point. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!! #borrownotbuy
