This made me laugh. I wonder if that's been there since 1963 or if it's been added to new editions to help the post-internet generations. 🤔😁

I loved this series as a kid and really enjoyed revisiting the first book for #EBBR. I had the entire series and both of my kids read them when they were younger. Such a fun series and format.

Ruthiella Such great books for mystery lovers, young and old. 😃 24h
TheAromaofBooks I've been glad to find that I'm slightly better at solving these mysteries now than I was as a kid 😂 12h
Read4life @Ruthiella I completely agree!! 🤓 10h
Read4life @TheAromaofBooks I own all of them but I‘m not at home. I borrowed the audiobook from Libby. When they asked how Encyclopedia knew I would say the answer out loud. I was wearing headphones so hubby had no idea what I was listening to. The first couple surprised him & then he just ignored me. 😆 10h

Loved these as a young person, had forgotten about them until @Ruthiella started #EBBR (thanks) and I still do!
Encyclopedia Brown helps his father (police chief) solve crimes, and sets up his own detective agency. Very short stories where the reader is asked to figure out how the crime was solved. Really good read for young people (5th or 6th grade maybe) interested in detective stories.
Make a great day everyone 😊

Ruthiella Great review! 😃 3d
bthegood @Ruthiella thx and thx for starting this reading group! 🙂 3d

I was able to get the 1st book from the library just in time for #EBBR
I have never read or heard of this series, but I am looking forward to reading it and others in the series.
@Ruthiella

Sace Background pup is a cutie! I hope you enjoy the series. I loved it when I was a kid. 1w
Ruthiella Awesome! It‘s very much aimed at children, so I don‘t know how I will work for an adult reading it for the first time. I enjoyed reading-visiting and matching wits with my ten year old self. 1w
InkedBookworm13 @Ruthiella I'm looking forward to it. I've been revisiting some books from my childhood lately and trading some I missed the first time around. 1w
InkedBookworm13 @Sace thank you. Dexter pops up in quite a few of my posts. 🐶📖 1w
kwmg40 This was one of my favourite series when I was a kid! 6d

Encyclopedia Brown Buddy Read

Tagging those who expressed interest in revisiting or discovering this children‘s detective classic by reading the first book in the series in February. I‘ll check in with you all around mid month to see how we fared matching wits with the boy detective!

All are welcome. 😊 If you are interested and would like to be added to the tag list, let me know.

Ruthiella Thank you! 😊 2w

Since it's also Throwback Thursday, I'm going old school with my pics. Here are some favorites from my youth:
1. Encyclopedia Brown - I even had a little crush on Leroy. 😍
2. Nancy Drew - A teacher recommended I graduate from Encyclopedia Brown and get into Nancy Drew.
3. The Boxcar Children - An old family favorite that my Aunt shared with me

dabbe We share #2! I have to revisit EB and Boxcar someday soon. Thanks for playing! ❤️💜🩷 12mo

I read this series when I was young and it brought out my love for mysteries, detective stories and even series reading.
My daughter fell in love with them as a kid and is a big reader of many genres but loves mysteries the most.

mrp27 I loved these as a kid! 2y
CogsOfEncouragement I love these and so does my son. 2y
Ruthiella Me too. Loved ‘em as a kid and I still love mystery novels! 2y
