OH MY GOSH I FINISHED! Wooooo! Ok- I had a real, reallllll tough time in the middle of this book. So tough. The start was so intense and then I was just confused for a bit....Wanted to bail more than once and this took me a while to get through, but by the end I was glad I did. HotMessJess @Ashley_Nicoletto yes! I had a TOUGH time. Definitely thought it would be an easy 200ish page read. I was wrong! Really struggled, but desperately had to finish! @TheNextBook ahhhh so excited. Have another book I need to read this week before we get on to the second!!! 7y

I didn't exactly plan for this to be my #FirstBookof2017, but my library hold just happened to come through. I wish I had it on audio but I'm really enjoying it so far, especially his thoughts on the power of language and the ramifications of Apartheid on the ground level.

What possessed me to read this in public I'll never know. I actually quite enjoyed this, and found that movie was very true to the book, which is always nice.
