I just finished reading The Language of Flowers. It‘s a coming of age story about a girl who has just been emancipated from foster care. Basically the only thing she likes besides food is flowers, and her knowledge of them steers her life in an interesting direction.
When I first started it I had a hard time putting it down. It had a satisfying conclusion.

2.5/5⭐ This book is told from the perspective of a strong-willed, very interesting character. The first 60% was captivating, but the conclusion devolved into a complicated version of “having a baby solves all problems.“ The interpersonal conflicts aren't worked through at all, just solved automatically. Given the initial complexity of the main character, I expected something better.
My favorite flowers for Mother‘s Day! Sending love to all my mothers, especially those who‘ve experienced loss, or who are trying, or are struggling— this day is for you, too. I love you 💜
I cannot recommend this book enough.. the author describes growing up homeless and with a mother battling mental illness . Initially relieved to be put in foster care, his happiness was short-lived as he moves from home to home, facing abuse and separated from his siblings. However he has a vision and with grit and determination he works towards his goals and attends college.. a powerful, haunting and incredibly inspiring!

FICTION - CHICK LIT - ROMANCE
The wedding was a huge success and brought a few surprises as well.....a former policeman who happened to be photographing the oak tree and a new foster child that unknown to Glory had some connection to her family dog.

The main character‘s (Victoria Jones) anger problems made me dislike her. I read spoilers which say that she becomes a mother, and I was angry about it to the point where I bailed on this book. I predicted she will be an abusive mother, so I couldn‘t finish this book.
