Pickpick

I've really enjoyed Mariko Tamaki's very grounded run on Detective Comics, which harmonizes well with James Tynion's concurrent run on Batman. We must be having a real fungal moment because this story, like The Last of Us, also features a fungus.

I'm a broken record about how wildly good Dan Mora's art is, but it's so cool to see one of my favorite artists drawing my favorite character. I love Mariko Tamaki's pacing, too.

CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen There was a time when I collected every Batman comic I could get my hands on. Then finances became an issue. Whine. I have read some graphic novels here and there, but even that has not been very recent. Batman is my favorite superhero mostly because he‘s just human. And I appreciate why he is so driven. I have been a fan of The Dark Knight for more years than I care to remember. (edited) 2y
JLaurenceCohen @CatLass007 this is The Dark Knight's 15th anniversary, and it's still the best superhero movie. If you haven't read Scott Snyder's Batman comics, I highly recommend them. 2y
CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen Thanks for the recommendation. 2y

CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen I just looked up Scott Snyder‘s Batman. I borrowed The Court of Owls from the library. I may have borrowed City of Owls also. Pretty much a wow! (edited) 2y
JLaurenceCohen @CatLass007 nice! When you finish Snyder's in-continuity run, check out his Black Label story Last Knight on Earth 2y
CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen I thought The Court of Owls was excellent. I‘m adding Scott Snyder to my “always read list.” 2y
CatLass007 @JLaurenceCohen I just re-read our exchange and it dawned on me that you were talking about The Dark Knight movie. I was thinking about Frank Miller‘s The Dark Knight Returns. Which one was the movie you were talking about? Was that the one with Heath Ledger? I can‘t even remember who played Batman in that one. But I still remember sitting in the theater and the gut punch of the opening of Tim Burton‘s Batman starring Michael Keaton. (cont)⬇️ 2y
CatLass007 I think it was Danny Elfman‘s score that gave the movie an extra oomph. And I think it‘s the only Tim Burton movie I‘ve ever liked. That movie was groundbreaking, in both good and bad ways. It was the re-launch of the superhero genre. And that‘s what‘s both good and bad. Hollywood never knows when to stop. The market has become glutted with some pretty awful movies. 2y

Pickpick

I saw #BirdsofPrey last night and I wanted more. I decided to start with Gail Simone‘s run although I know she wrote issues in the previous run that started in 1999. DC Universe is great for my catching up on oldies. I think having watched Arrow & Justice League animated series helped ease my transition to characters I otherwise wouldn‘t know and therefore care about much. I stan Barbara Gordon/Oracle/Batgirl because #Librarian. #DCComics #Comics

Day 5 of the #Fallisbooked challenge by @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @OriginalCyn620

#Harvest - Gail Simone is the queen of writing creepy comic book villains, and one of her creepiest was Harvest, an urban legend come to life. Harvest was a vengeful spirit who could be summoned if someone shouted her name at the moon and she would drain the life of anything she touched, be it plants, animals, or humans. Scary stuff! 😱🎃👻

OriginalCyn620 Sounds kinda awesome! 🖤 5y

#comiccovercrush #7days7covers Day 5

Thank you to the wonderful @Meaw_catlady for the tag!😺

Anyone who would like to share 7 favorite comic book covers, consider yourselves tagged!

Barbara Gordon (whether she is Batgirl or Oracle) is one of my favorite comic book characters ever, so I love this cover featuring her surrounded by several other DC heroines! IMO, Gail Simone and Nicola Scott were the best writer/artist team to work on this series!

Leftcoastzen Love this cover. 6y
DaveGreen7777 @Leftcoastzen I do, too! 😀 6y

Much much darker than the "batgirl of burnside" run. I might be reading these out of order.

#riotgrams wants #pinkcovers huh? Here ya go! Even comic lovers can find some gorgeous pink cover art in a medium that largely stayed away from pink on its covers unless it was a romance title. Still, these are some beautiful examples from the 1970's, 1980s, and today! #birdsofprey #avengersarena #alphaflight #pink
