#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 16: Ch.1-5: Eve starts off the book in a happy mood b/c Summerset, her nemesis, is heading away for vacation. Unfortunately his plans get derailed by a broken leg and Roarke is faced with Summerset‘s fragility in a way. Eve gets tipped to a murder by Nadine and finds a young college student as the victim. ⬇️

StayCurious Eve starts delving into the victim‘s life which causes her to think about her own. Peabody is thinking of moving in with Mcnab. Are they ready for that big step? 2d
LitStephanie I know a lot is happening in chapters 1-5, but I must comment on Jackson Hooper, AKA uber hot English graduate student with a TA position. As a former English lit student with a 2d

LitStephanie graduate assistantship myself, I am here to tell you that there are no English Lit TAs "racking up girls like pool balls. That is NOT a thing. ??? 2d
LitStephanie Eve's joy about the coming absense of Summerset is pretty funny, as is her ongoing horror over Mcnab winning over her sensible aide. I like the comic relief. 2d
LiseWorks I actually felt bad for the cat. I know he didn't mean to be on the way, but sometimes they just are. I found Eve so funny with Peabody discussion of McNabb moving in, etc. And Eve being scared of Trish. 2d
TheAromaofBooks I kind of loved the little showdown between Eve and Nadine. The two of them are actually really similar in a lot of ways, but have chosen different paths. Good to see that McNabb has fully recovered from his serious injuries in the last book!! 2d
Ddzmini I enjoyed the way this one started out with some joy… until Galahad tripped Summerset and caused trouble… then Eve gets a call from Nadine so she can‘t stay and help Roarke with Summerset‘s fall… but finding a body in a trash compactor that‘s sad 😔 (edited) 2d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 16 - Our next read is set to start this week (sorry for the quick turnaround). We‘ll check in on Sunday Sept 7. As we get deeper into the series we‘re getting to know and love these characters- including her fun cast of side characters. I always want to know more about what‘s happening with everyone in this universe.

ShananigansReads Yes! Eve has the best found family. I love them all. 1w
TheAromaofBooks I really love the pace at which we're reading this series. Five chapters a week is pretty perfect - I love pretty much always having some Eve and Roarke on the go!! 7d
LitStephanie Starting this one right now! Can't wait to be a part of the discussion. 3d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 15 Ch.16-22/review: Eve faces a lot of ethical and emotional questions in this book. She feels disillusioned with people who she thought were working with her on one side of the law. But when the justice system fails, is it right to take the law into your own hands? What if in doing so, you hurt people who get in the way? Eve faces threats to members of her own team - Trueheart, Mcnab, and Peabody. ⬇️

StayCurious So things are even more close to home. She butts heads with Roarke (as per usual), and climbs up the bureaucratic ladder where scandal awaits at the very top. This was an interesting case and an emotional book that once again brought us closer to our core group. 1w
StayCurious The more of these books I read the more I can‘t wait to see where these characters will go next. 1w

LiseWorks Same here. Eve is very much a go by the book kind of cop but she does ask Roarke to break the law when she feels she has no choice. A pregnant Mavis will be interesting in future books. 1w
TheAromaofBooks There were some interesting ethical questions in this one. While I did agree that no group of people should just be allowed to run around essentially lynching people, there is always that nagging question of what you do when the system fails - people who were in fact guilty but who got off anyway and are free to continue hurting others. It was hard to 100% disagree with Purity, even while recognizing that their methods were wrong. 1w
Ddzmini This was a great way to present how a group or organization can influence the public in agreeing with their perception of how to conduct executions of individuals that don‘t live up to their expectations or break laws … are they right or wrong… what happens when you are caught committing a crime they fell is against their beliefs… even if it‘s a simple crime like a financial crime… what then 1w
Ddzmini What if the crime is just not going along with the groups perceived ethical standards… that‘s why this was such a great read. 1w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book:15 Ch. 11-15: That Chang is a weasel. Why do I feel as though he is part of Purity? He wants to do all those shows which would give his cause plenty of airtime. And he‘s such a pain in the butt I want him to be guilty. I don‘t think the deputy mayor is part of it - but boy will she be ticked if I‘m right. ⬇️

StayCurious It‘s funny that Eve and Roarke are so terrified of being parents but yet they kinda act as such for Jamie and the rest of their motley crew. They take care of their family. I laughed at Eves reaction to Mavis‘ news. She‘s funny. 2w
LiseWorks I really loved it when McNabb declared his love for Peabody in these chapters. 2w
LiseWorks Love the Carol Burnette Meem. Yep, that was me with my girls at times lol 2w

Ddzmini I really enjoy watching this unfold and Eve and Mavis are so cute love their relationship especially with Mavis prego and excited, while Eves skepticism towards that excitement is hilarious I loved these characters for so many reasons 2w
ShananigansReads A pregnant Mavis. I can hardly imagine it. I can't wait for Auntie Eve and Uncle Roarke to emerge. 1w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 15 Ch.6-10: so glad Jamie is back - I like revisiting old cases and characters. But I wonder if all those e-men together is a smart idea. They‘re about to do something very dangerous with that infected unit. And boy, will Eve be pissed. She is on the right track linking the victims of the victims. She caught on to the third person who was targeted, even if she was too late. Just give her a bit more time, fellas.

LiseWorks Oh, Eve is going to be pissed! 3w
TheAromaofBooks @LiseWorks - Right!? The whole time I was reading this I was thinking about how mad she is going to be!! I love Eve and Roarke but sometimes reading about them makes me super thankful for my incredibly non-volatile marriage 😂 3w
Ddzmini @TheAromaofBooks completely agree I have enough with my hubby doing safety inspection and talking about those 🤣 Eve definitely has her hands full 🙌🏽 3w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Book 15 Ch.1-5: sorry for the late post! Just like in the book, this heatwave has me battling headaches…luckily I haven‘t gone crazy yet 😅 Man, what a start to this book - first, poor Trueheart takes out a raging drug dealer but we find out something more is going on - Eve hands over the drug dealer‘s computer to EDD and then a detective goes batty and there‘s a hostage situation. ⬇️

StayCurious Something affected both the dealer and the detective and the computer is the only thing linking the two. Could a computer virus translate to real life? It‘s not that far fetched (remember the case with the suicides that were brought on by a computer program?) Now Eve has to get to the bottom of things - to clear Trueheart, to vindicate the EDD detective who was actually a victim, and to stop anyone else from getting infected. 1mo
LiseWorks Wow! Talk about subliminal messaging. There is no possibility that this is a targeted thing because you don't know who will be looking at the computer. 1mo

TheAromaofBooks The idea of catching a virus from your computer is SO creepy!!! 1mo
Ddzmini So I don‘t this I want to go on my computer now 👀 1mo
ShananigansReads @TheAromaofBooks So scary. That will stick with me for a while. Every headache is now suspicious. (edited) 1w
