Judgment in Death | J. D. Robb

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Ch.1-5: a cop is killed - and it‘s way overkill - inside an upscale strip club owned by Roarke. Eve is determined to find the killer, and dig into the secrets the cop may have been carrying. Was he on the take? She gets warned by IAB and the cop‘s finances point to yes. But Eve still needs to find the killer-while juggling jurisdictional BS. ⬇️

StayCurious Her investigation leads to a dangerous man from Roarke‘s past. This guy is something else. Will Eve and her team be able to wade through the complex nature of this case? 2d
Librarybelle Something else indeed! Yikes! 2d
Read4life I have every faith in Eve & the gang. 🤓 1d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong A few things for us fans of the series - there‘s a new In Death cookbook coming out this year with food and recipes from the world of In Death! How fun is that? And I read this interesting interview with Nora Roberts about reaching book 60: https://www.audible.com/blog/jd-robb-bonded-in-death-audio-interview - she‘s so impressive!

Librarybelle A cookbook!! That is awesome!! Thanks for the interview link. 3d
LiseWorks Oh wow! Eve's pizza lol 3d

LiseWorks I just finished book 58 3d
tpixie @LiseWorks I‘ve finished 56. With all my book, clubs and challenges I‘ve gotten behind reading my series: JD Robb‘s Eve Dallas, James Patterson‘s Alex Cross, Kathy Reich‘s temperance Brennan, & Patricia Cornwall‘s Kay Scarpetta (edited) 2d
tpixie @StayCurious oh! A cook book! Thanks for the heads up and the link!! 2d
LiseWorks @tpixie, you like the same series as me, and I have been trying to catch up as well. 2d

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong We‘re on to book 11! We will stick to our usual reading schedule and will check in on Feb 9, 16, 23, and finish on March 2. I‘m looking forward to seeing how things are progressing with our characters, especially Peabody and Mcnabb. As always, let me know if you want to be added or removed from the tag list.

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Sorry for the late post - I missed my cue (haha - get it, because theatre?) Ch.16-end / review — as usual we were led down some dark passages in this one, and it hit close to home for Eve. The victim in this case was deplorable- and Eve ended up feeling for the killer. I thought the twist and reveal was pulled off nicely - Dame Christie would have been proud. ⬇️

StayCurious I liked the sentimental moments between Roarke and Eve, and Eve and Trueheart‘s mother. I think Peabody and Eve grew closer. I think Eve and Nadine grew closer. And I think Peabody and Mcnabb grew very close. Overall, a good addition to the series that helped propel it further. 2w
Librarybelle This was a good one! 2w

LiseWorks I really liked this one. 2w
Read4life I agree that this was very good! 2w
TheAromaofBooks We so often hear more about how Eve feels about her evil dad, so it was interesting to think about mothers, especially Eve's. Such a good job showing Eve's personal growth throughout this series as different cases make her face different aspects of her past. And I'm totally hear for Peabody + McNabb!! 2w

I think this was the best in the series yet—aspects of Agatha Christie-esque mysteries are thrown into this one. Eve, Roarke, and thousands in the audience witness a murder on stage. But, it‘s not as clear cut as it seems. Eve also continues to battle her last, and elements of the investigation do not help. I love to see the characters developing! #InDeathLongReadalong

LiseWorks I agree, I really liked this one 2w
StayCurious A lot of character bonding in this one 2w

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.11-15: the more we learn about the victim Draco, the more he turns out to have been a really rotten guy. An altercation from 24 years ago is revealed and as Eve digs, she may have found more unsettling information about Draco and his last lover Carly. Secrets never stay buried. And this one is a real killer. Meanwhile, Roarke gives Mcnab dating advice to woo Peabody, and Eve tries to woo Roarke with a romantic dinner

LiseWorks I absolutely loved Eve's attempt to woo Roarke. It was really romantic, and the surprise on Roarke nearly killed her effort. I'm so glad it worked out. 3w
Librarybelle Me too, @LiseWorks ! It was such a charming interlude in the story! 3w
TheAromaofBooks I loved that part of Roarke's advice was to contrast rather than compete with the other guy, i.e. be yourself. McNabb and Peabody are so freaking cute together. 3w

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.6-10: Eve has a very interesting cast of characters to deal with - some of whom hated the deceased. We find out the victim was pretty much an a—hole and a sexual deviant (poor Nadine). He had a tape of her that if it got out would be pretty bad. What was he planning to do with it? Was that why he called her for dinner? Or was it just to discuss old times? ⬇️

StayCurious Then the newest victim, made to look a suicide - good thing Eve‘s not easily fooled. What do we think of Charles and Peabody‘s platonic relationship? I hope Eve stays out of it. But if McNabb finds out, will he be relieved or smug? (edited) 1mo
Librarybelle I‘m really enjoying this one! It‘s a fun way to craft a mystery. As for Peabody‘s triangle—I wonder how this is going to go! 1mo
TheAromaofBooks Eve palming Nadine off for the makeover made me laugh 😂 1mo

#InDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Ch.1-5: All the world‘s a stage…we‘re thrust into the world of the theatre and the actors that live and breathe it. A man is killed in front of Eve and 3000 other people and the question is not who did the actual deed but who switched out the prop knife with a real one. The victim is much hated so there seem to be a lot of motives. ⬇️

StayCurious And who happens to hold a grudge over the victim for a past slight-Nadine Furst - she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and the real killer may use that to his advantage. This one is set to become dramatic, folks. 1mo
LiseWorks Yes, and of course, Roarke is involved. 1mo
TheAromaofBooks The Nadine angle is a fun one. And I'm so rooting for McNab + Peabody 😂 1mo

repost for @StayCurious:

#inDeathLongReadalong #IDLR Happy soon to be January! We‘re on to book 10 of our series and we‘ll keep to our same reading pace with a check in each Sunday. I believe there are 22 chapters in this book so in the final week we‘ll finish off with 7 chapters. If you want to be taken off the main tag list please let me know. Looking forward to 2025 with you (hard to believe that‘s sort of close to when our books take place!)
