Finished “The Ring and the Crown,” (it was just…kind of a hurried mess at the end, but I‘m still pretty ambivalent about it as a whole), and am just moving right along to something that‘s already MUCH better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #thehollywooddaughter #katealcott #ingridbergman

Old movies are a staple in our house. My husband and my father in law introduced me to many a classic film. Some of our favorites are:
Casablanca
Twelve Angry Men (original)
Bridge over the river Kwai
Double Indemnity
All about Eve
The Waterfront
Dog Day Afternoon
Chinatown
Wait until Dark
And so many more. I just love a well told story...no matter the format!

Good. Full of old Hollywood glamour as it is set against the golden age of Hollywood in the 1940's and 50's. It is about how a young woman navigates growing up in this environment and how her life will become shaped by it.

It has been a long time since I have a read a book in one sitting. This is not the greatest book ever written but I enjoyed the stories about old Hollywood.

KateFulfordAuthor If you need another recommendation, may I point you to my People‘s Book Prize nominated debut? Sassy female narrative, laugh out dialogue and a pacy plot. Check the link in the bio for 2 free chapters, reviews and more. 7y

I went to the library to renew my card and this happened. I am powerless in the face of the new books section.

This was a good, quick read. I enjoyed the old school Hollywood glamour, especially with the main story revolving around the actress Ingrid Bergman. Lots of movie references throughout. I didn‘t really connect to the main character. So, even though I enjoyed this book, it‘d be hard for me to recommend to any/all readers. If you‘re interested in Hollywood, the 1950‘s, McCarthyism and religion, you‘ll enjoy it!

This was just an ok read to me. I would only recommend it unless you are a die hard 1950s era Hollywood movie star aficionado.

Ingrid Bergman, My Story | Ingrid Bergman

I've spent about an hour tearing my bedroom apart in search of something I desperately need and found two things I haven't seen in forever! One being the battery charger for my camera which I haven't seen in over a year and Ingrid Bergman My Story which my bestie and roommate got me many moons ago for Christmas! This book is from when a hardcover cost only $14.95!
