How I love listening to this series! In the 3rd installment of the Midsomer Murders series, Barnaby and Troy are called to investigate a suspicious death at the home of a religious group/cult. Graham really dives into the psyche of her characters in this one - it‘s a wild ride! #192025 #1992

I‘ve been listening to the audio books read by John Hopkins and I‘m loving them. These are the books that the Midsomer Murders are based on, but much more detail and depth than the tv series. This is the third in the series and I‘ve just started the fourth. Absolutely loving these mysteries read aloud to me.

One more book read in November…book two in the Inspector Barnaby/Midsomer Murders series. How delightful! You can just feel how exasperated Barnaby is at times when questioning suspects - John Hopkins does an amazing narration! If you‘re a fan of the TV series, I highly recommend the book series! #192025 #1989

I love Midsomer Murders and have been dying (no pun intended) to read the book series upon which the TV show is based. It was with great delight that I found them on Audible. This first in the series introduces the reader to DCI Barnaby, who is a bit more taciturn in print than he is on the show. The overall atmosphere is a bit darker than the show, but it works perfectly well. The voice narrator is wonderful, inflecting Barnaby‘s thoughts ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle …with the right amount of feeling and nuance. I‘m looking forward to reading the next in the series! #1987 #19822022 3mo

1) Don't make me choose between Poirot (as played by David Suchet) and Inspector Barnaby (as played by John Nettles). Both are firm favourites 💕

2) Fortunately, I'm REALLY BAD at working out whodunit. I love to try to figure it out, but the fun is in being surprised..

3) A new one? Any recommendations, fellow mystery-lovers?

LiteraryinLawrence I love Poirot and Barnaby too. Have you read Anthony Horowitz before? I like the Magpie Murder series. I also love Sophie Hannah‘s Poirot books that are endorsed by the Christie estate. 11mo
RaeLovesToRead @LiteraryinLawrence I have the first of that series on my shelf... have been saving it... but probably should get on with reading it! Not sure how I feel about someone else doing Poirot (although from what I've heard, they are excellent books!) 11mo
FlowerFairy I second The Magpie Murders series. 😁 11mo

Branwen I am also really bad at figuring out murder mysteries! But I'm okay with that, because I love being surprised! 😁 11mo
ozma.of.oz Love, love, love Suchet‘s performances as Poirot! He‘s totally what I picture now when I reread! Thanks for sharing! 11mo
RaeLovesToRead @FlowerFairy I look forward to starting them! 😊 11mo
RaeLovesToRead @Branwen The amount of times my Mum had said it was really obvious who did it and I've been baffled 😅😅 11mo
RaeLovesToRead @ozma.of.oz I can't imagine it any other way! ❤ 11mo

A perfect step down from IT? Midsomer Murders. They‘re running out of plots after 20 years on TV, but this particular episode, The Scarecrow Murders, was pretty good. #mystery #murder #Scarathalon2021 #TeamSlaughter

Well, that was a weird, oddly specific little detail. “… a dead bluebottle fell on the usher‘s head.” It might be my occasionally weird sense of humor, but that line made me laugh.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That is an odd little detail to include…🤔 1y

Not feeling well, so I left work early and am now sitting here in bed reading the 3rd Inspector Barnaby book. I don‘t expect to need much concentration for it.

Aims42 Hope you feel better!! A little relaxing and book reading can do wonders 😊 1y
