Two more ARCs done and two in progress (I think I‘m starting a fun romance kick). If I didn‘t keep getting new books from NetGalley, I‘d be making progress on my ARC reading goals 😅 #netgalley #netgalleygroup

AllDebooks Lol, I know how that goes! 📚📚📚📚 Pleased to have you with us. I'll add you to the taglist. 😀 1w
janeycanuck I‘m glad I‘m not the only one nearing double digits with books in progress! 1w

#NetGalleyGroup #NGGreadathon #ARC

Dr Meenal Viz writes compassionately about the failure of the government to provide adequate PPE resources during the Covid19 pandemic. Her frustration at the unnecessary risks her colleagues, her husband, and her 6 month pregnant self were forced to take to give patients the care they needed is palpable throughout the book.

AllDebooks Her solitary protest outside No 10 Downing Street is laudable and triggered change.

This was so much fun! Combine pickleball, fantastic chemistry, ghostwriting, great friends, and a search for a muse and you‘ve got this delightfully charming read! And that cover ! A new to me author, this releases on November 18th and I highly recommend checking it out! I will be reading more by this author 😍 #netgalleygroup @AllDebooks

AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk that's great! Are you going to try out some of the recipes? 2w
Zuhkeeyah I have a cute romance I want to read this weekend 2w
Bookwormjillk @AllDebooks If my sink gets fixed tomorrow yes I will! If not I will just keep dreaming :) 2w
ShananigansReads I am exhausted. Had my biggest day of the school year yesterday and it took the wind out of me. I‘m currently reading Deep End by Ali Hazelwood. I hope to read my ARCs of Jilted by Vi Keeland and/or Mean Moms by Emma Rosenblum this weekend while I let my body rest and mentally prepare for the kids coming back next week. 2w
IriDas I didn‘t think I‘d have time to do this but I have to take the train to my mom‘s tomorrow. Six hour round trip, so I will have time at least then. I also have Monday off work. :) I hope to finish two of my current reads this weekend. A Wizard of Earthsea and The Betrayal. And get closer to the end with Mapping the Deep. If I drag my kids into it we‘ll work on Impossible Creatures. 2w
DGRachel This is apparently my week (or month or year or…) of forgetting all the things, like this being challenge weekend. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have a ton of things I‘m behind on reading (technically due today and tomorrow) but I did manage to clear one NetGalley book and my LibraryThing Early Reviewer book off my list this week and as far as NetGalley goes, I have one that publishes on Tuesday that I would to read this weekend. That one is my goal. 2w
Bookish_Thoughts No time today because we babysat grandkids. Then I found out this evening we may be hiking tomorrow. SO…if I can I will either start Where Dark Things Rise, or one of 3 being published on Oct. 28th. I *should* start Where Dark Things Rise, but the other three are *really* calling my name. 😁 🤔 2w
AllDebooks @ShananigansReads Wishing you a peaceful, restful weekend. X 2w
AllDebooks @IriDas that's a lot of travelling time. Safe travels. X 2w
AllDebooks @DGRachel Sounds good. X 2w
AllDebooks @Bookish_Thoughts isn't that always the way. I'm always afflicted by tbr-itis. 2w
ShananigansReads @AllDebooks thank you. I ran errands early this morning so I can mostly lay around the house the rest is the weekend. Still listening to The Deep 3 hours left 2w

Wow! So good, a great follow up to Sandwich but one that stands all on its own. Bringing together two storylines that examine health and consequences, this compelling story packs a lot of funny, heartbreaking, and meaningful moments into 209 pages.I had the honor of meeting the author and she is just as approachable and kind as you would expect. Releasing Oct 28, you won‘t want to miss this one! #netgalleygroup @AllDebooks

This is a hard book to review/rate, but it‘s a pick for me.

This remarkable debut novel has themes of classism, racism, sexuality, and dominance of the wealthy, not to mention drug addiction, mental health issues, and a damaged justice system. I cannot speak too much to the actions in the book, as it would be very spoiler-ish, but it‘s a book to make you think about life and prejudice and what choice you would make, and living with that choice.⬇️

Librarybelle ⬆️ The story is told by Rachel, who in 1999 is a recent high school graduate. Rachel has baggage. Lots of baggage. She‘s had a falling out with her friends and feels very isolated. And bitter. Her bitterness is laced through this entire narrative. Rachel is also unlikeable, and her prejudices and perceived hurts at times make her an unreliable narrator. To escape her boredom at home before college, she agrees to spend the summer with her aunt‘s ⬇️ 1mo
Librarybelle ⬆️ family in Greenwich, Connecticut. If you‘re not in the know, it‘s a high society landscape. Rachel befriends her young cousin‘s nanny, Claudia. But, from the very beginning, Rachel foreshadows a tragedy as she unfolds that summer for the reader. When tragedy does strike, Rachel is left with a choice, and it‘s the consequences with that choice that she continues to wrestle with for the rest of the book. Told in three parts, part one is a slow ⬇️ 1mo
Librarybelle ⬆️ build to the tragedy. It‘s a perfect slow build of suspense. You kinda figure out what the outcome of the tragedy is with the breadcrumbs Rachel places in her narrative, but when the tragedy happens…just wow. Part two is the aftermath, told a little bit quicker, as Rachel blames everyone else for the choice she made and how she feels from it (she plays the victim well, though I had no sympathy for her). Part three, the shortest section, ⬇️ 1mo

Librarybelle ⬆️ is an epilogue that seems to want to tie things together, though it is a bit rushed. As I said, Rachel is bitter and feels like life has let her down. Personally, as a loner and introvert and one who feels isolated at times, Rachel‘s actions made me take a step back and examine how I perceive my actions. I do have bitterness, but I hope I handle it with more grace than Rachel does. I think I did like this book because of the narration. ⬇️ 1mo
Librarybelle ⬆️ Imani Jade Powers does an amazing job with this book and really includes the bitter tone in Rachel‘s narration. Had I read this on my own rather than listen to it, I think I‘d have a different feel for the book. Thanks to #NetGalley for this #ALC , and I completed this during the #NetGalleyGroup #NetGalleyReadathon this past weekend. The book debuts today! @AllDebooks 1mo

It's our last day for July's #readathon 📚

How did you do?
Did you meet your goals?
Did the readathon help give you a nudge?

I've enjoyed hosting it. It's certainly helped give me a kickstart back into Netgalley life. I've enjoyed reading your comments and posts.

See you on 15th August for another round of #ARCs 😀

All welcome to join us. Please let me know if you wish to be added/removed from the taglist.

DGRachel Umm…I read about 30 pages or so of the ARC I‘d planned to finish. It‘s just not holding my attention and I switched over to a nearly 400 page ebook that returns to the library in 3 days. There‘s always next weekend, right? 😂 1mo
See All 20 Comments
Librarybelle I did complete my #ALC (it‘s published tomorrow, so I‘ll post my review then). I did not start my #ARC , but I think I‘ll have a better plan going into the August reading…more specific goals and such. Thanks for bringing this back! 1mo
AllDebooks @DGRachel Well, 30 pages is better than nothing. I get why you would prioritise the library book. Thank you for joining in. 😀 1mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle Yay, well done. 👏 I really needed spurring on, and it's always better to have company. 😀 1mo
AllDebooks I've 100 pages left of The Tesla Files. I could not stop reading! I'll start my fiction tonight. Of my 10 reviews, I've completed 5. I just need to post them now. 1mo
sebrittainclark I completed one of the ARCs I was reading, and caught up on the 4 reviews I needed to write. 1mo
Deblovestoread I didn‘t finish but did make progress. 1mo
AllDebooks @sebrittainclark That's great. Well done. 🙌 1mo
AllDebooks @Deblovestoread it all counts. 🙌 1mo
Bookish_Thoughts DNF‘ed one book, finished another, and caught up on reviews, so yay me. 🙂 This was fun! Thanks for hosting. 1mo
PuddleJumper Actually read an eARC today. It was fun but I was reading the Kindle version and it would randomly start a new line mid-word. It was so annoying! Seems to be a common issue when reading NetGalley books on Kindle 1mo
AllDebooks @Bookish_Thoughts that's great. Well done. 👏 1mo
AllDebooks @PuddleJumper I've never tried them on my Kindle as I've heard its problematic. Well done on finishing one. 👏 1mo
tpixie I‘ve failed so far… I‘ll have more time in 2026* to read, though. @AllDebooks (edited) 1mo
AllDebooks @tpixie you haven't failed, you were only considering joining. I can take you off the taglist, if you prefer. 1mo
tpixie @AllDebooks yes, let‘s do that. I may try next year! 1mo

BookmarkTavern I really enjoyed this mystery novel! 1mo
AllDebooks @BookmarkTavern I like the look of this 1mo
AllDebooks I really enjoyed Michelle Paver's new novel. A ghost story set in the rainforest of South America. One for #NaturaLitsy 1mo

Librarybelle My favorite #ALC is this one, a top so far for 2025: 1mo
Librarybelle As for an #ARC , this was an enjoyable read, since I‘m about all things The Golden Girls: 1mo
DGRachel My fav ARC read of the year is a Romantasy debut with sirens, so it has a bit of a dark, Hans Christian Andersen Little Mermaid vibe. 1mo
DGRachel @Librarybelle I have Murder by Cheesecake on my shelf to read. It sounds delightful! 1mo
DGRachel @BookmarkTavern I will have to look for that one. It sounds like it has all of my favorite mystery novel elements 😱 1mo
Bookish_Thoughts So far my favorite #ARC is The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones. I‘ve read a lot of his work, but not all of it. (edited) 1mo
sebrittainclark My favorite I read in the last month was Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz, which is a cozy sci-fi novella about robots opening a restaurant. I've had Future of Another Timeline on my TBR for a while, but this was the first time I read one of their books, and I'll definitely read more. 1mo
AllDebooks @Bookish_Thoughts he is very good. I'm looking forward to reading this one. 1mo
AllDebooks @sebrittainclark lol, I love the title, and the plot sounds cute. ❤️ 1mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle both of those look good. Golden girls cozy mystery is a genius idea. 1mo
AllDebooks @DGRachel that looks so good. 1mo
PuddleJumper I just got approved for the second in the Hollow and the Haunted duology - The Forsaken and the Fated, so would recommend that (😅) and the first in the series 1mo

AllDebooks I'm reading an investigative journalism expose of Tesla and Musk. It's so gripping, I can't put it down. Available in Read Now section. 1mo
Librarybelle I‘m listening to my ALC, Greenwich by Kate Broad, and I plan to pick out my ARC today! 1mo
See All 18 Comments
Amor4Libros I started First Time, Long Time by Amy Silverberg. I have about 8 other ARCs going 🤣🤣, but I‘m challenging myself to finish this one by Tue (pub date). 1mo
DGRachel I started Beasts of Carnaval by Rosalia Rodrigo. I‘m not not enjoying it, but I‘m struggling to find anything that holds my attention. Outside thoughts keep creeping into my brain and distracting me from the story. 😭 1mo
Chrissyreadit @AllDebooks 💙💙💙💙💙 1mo
sebrittainclark I just started Awakened by Laura Elliot. She's a new to me author, and I'm intrigued by the concept so far. I haven't read much dystopian fiction in years, but I've read quite a few this year and am enjoying the genre. 1mo
Deblovestoread I‘m reading The Girls Who Grew Big. I like it but am in a bit of a slump so it‘s getting read in short spurts. I loved her debut 1mo
AllDebooks @Librarybelle ❤️🙌❤️ 1mo
AllDebooks @Amor4Libros 8 arcs!!! Blimey, you have your hands full. 1mo
AllDebooks @DGRachel Oh no, intrusive thoughts are a pain in the ass. Have you tried some centering techniques or relaxation exercises? I found that I did better with audiobooks when stress or anxiety levels are high. 1mo
AllDebooks @sebrittainclark 👀 Ooooh, that sounds so good. Stacked! 📚 1mo
AllDebooks @Deblovestoread another one stacked! 📚😅 1mo
DGRachel @AllDebooks I have a whole arsenal of mindfulness techniques but things are so bad right now that I don‘t even have the energy to implement any of them. It will pass. I usually rely on audiobooks at times like these, too, but they‘re even harder for me to get into right now. 🤷🏻‍♀️A local indie bookseller always gives me great recs for books that shut out the world, and she was working today, so pause on the ARC while I fall into another book. 1mo
AllDebooks @DGRachel I'm so sorry you're having a tough time. Sending hugs. xx 🫂 1mo
Bookish_Thoughts I‘m struggling with The Marigold Cottages Murder Collective. It‘s not holding my attention very well. I‘d forgotten I‘d started before and then forgot about it. 😬 1mo
Bookish_Thoughts I picked it up last night, saw I was less than 40% into it, and bailed. #Hailthebail indeed. 1mo
