All the father wants for his daughter is to fit in. All the mother wants for her is to be exceptional. Both parents project on Lydia their own youth traumas. And then she dies.

I liked this novel by Celeste Ng, though not as much as Little Fires Everywhere. I kept wondering why the whole dysfunctional family #NeverEver talked to eachother, neither before nor after Lydia‘s death.
