The Black Loch | Peter May

#TheBlackLoch #PeterMay #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #September2024

The body of eighteen-year-old TV personality Caitlin is found abandoned on a remote beach at the head of A Loch Dubh - the Black Loch - on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. When he learns that his married son Fionnlagh had been having a clandestine affair with the dead girl and is suspected of her murder, he and Marsaili return to try and clear his name.

EadieB I was enjoying reading your new novel, The Black Loch, but found an unnecessary mention of Donald Trump in the book. I feel as though two assassination attempts is reason enough to not mention him in a book. Otherwise, the book is very well written. Although it is read as the 4th book in the trilogy, it is easily read as a standalone. If you like books about a murderer on an island, then you will love reading this book. Highly recommended! #TheChessmen #PeterMay #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024 #August2024

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as all the books in the trilogy. It's hard to say good bye to the island of Lewis and all the wonderful characters that we met on the island. They all seem like real people to me. Excellent plot which kept the pages turning and lots of surprises at the end. Peter May is one talented writer! read 2/8/15

EadieB This book is a reread of The Chessmen by Peter May. It is about the body of Roddy MacKenzie being found during a 'Bog Burst' which drains a lock of its water revealing a light aircraft. I read this book 9-1/2 years ago and only remembered a few things. I'm looking forward to the next book, The Black Loch, by Peter May published in September 2024. reread 8/11/2024 3mo

#TheLewisMan #PeterMay #August2024 #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024

The best features of this book were Peter May's beautiful writing and his description which made you feel like you were right there on the island witnessing everything that was happening. Also, I found the island and the people very interesting. It was a brilliant story with just enough mystery that kept me guessing until the very end. read 1/5/15

EadieB I have re-read The Lewis Man by Peter May from 1/5/15 and found out that I have forgotten most of what I read 9-1/2 years ago. It was all about Marsali's father and his dementia. I'm glad I re-read it and will now re-read The Chessmen. I'm getting ready to read book 4 when it will be published in September and I will be better prepared since I have re-read these 3 books. 8/9/24 4mo

Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten almost everything. I only remembered that this is one of my top 3 trilogies. So happy he decided to write a fourth book! 4mo
EadieB @Tove_Reads I am amazed that I have forgotten so much too. I think that I was confusing these books with the island books that Ann Cleeves write. (Shetland books) (edited) 4mo
kellock Wait! There's a fourth one?! 4mo

#TheBlackhouse #PeterMay #August2024 #BookSpinBingo #SeriesLove2024

I enjoyed this beautifully written book, The Blackhouse by Peter May, very much. It was an interesting view of an isolated island and its habitants. The characters were memorable and the story was a definite page-turner. The ending was not expected and a complete surprise. I look forward to reading the other books in the trilogy. 7/31/2014

EadieB I am rereading this book, The Blackhouse by Peter May, as the new book 4, The Black Loch, will be out in September and I have found it very refreshing. Having read it 10 years ago, I have found out that I have forgotten most of the book. I will reread book 2, The Lewis Man, and 3, The Chessmen, also as I think I will find the same results. I will then be ready to read book 4, The Black Loch, in September when the book is published. 8/6/2024 (edited) 4mo

Two dog beds right there, but they‘d rather be on Mama. Hamilton, the apricot/cream guy, really wants to get on the back of the chair but it hurts my back if he‘s up there too long, so I‘ve forbidden it today. He‘s sulking. Hazel, our red rescue, is just happy to be touching me.

With 67 pages to go, I‘m going to finish The Chessmen today. ❤️📚

Another great Peter May read. Spans 3 generations from war-torn London, the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Berlin and Vichy France. Part of Enzo Files series. How are 2 deaths 70 years apart related to the Mona Lisa painting which the Louvre has moved to chateaus to keep one step ahead of Germans? The present day timeline is autumn 2020 as France re-enters COVID lockdown.

Crazeedi Sounds good! I'm reading chessmen right now! 4y
EadieB @Crazeedi chessman has a great surprise ending! 4y

#TheManWhoNoFace #PeterMay

Peter May wrote this book in his 20‘s in 1981 and now has revised it and released it in 2019. I have read all his books and find him to be an excellent writer. This one is about a Scottish reporter, Colin Bannerman, who went to Brussels to write about the Common Market. He stays at Slater‘s home and gets attached to Slater‘s autistic daughter. Slater and Robert Gryffe are murdered and Tania Slater is a witness.

EadieB The murderer is now asked to kill Tania. The police are asked to cover-up the two murders but Bannerman is determined to find out the truth. I liked this plot very much and found the characters to be believable. I am now looking forward to reading May‘s final book in his Enzo series: (edited) 4y
Crazeedi I still have so many of his to read!! This sounds good. 4y

#ASilentDeath #PeterMay

Spain, Jack Cleland watches his girlfriend die, he promises to destroy Christina, the policewoman involved. Cristina's aunt Ana has been deaf and blind and is the center of Cleland's plan. John Mackenzie, Glaswegian investigator, is assigned to aid the Spanish authorities in their manhunt. He alone can silence Cleland. Atmospheric but not one of his best books but still an ok read. I look forward to reading Lockdown next.
