An enjoyable holiday romance! It‘s a bit repetitive in places and the word “magical” was seriously overused in the beginning, but as someone who has stayed at The Plaza during the holiday season numerous times, I couldn‘t help but like it!

#bookspinbingo - my #bookspin for this month

#pop24 - book with 24 letters in the title

James: A Novel | Percival Everett

I picked up the book on Monday, & finished it on Wednesday! 😂

This is my second Percival Everett (after Dr. No), & I'm searching out the backlist (luckily, I have a few on Kindle already). Considering I don't like Huckleberry Finn, I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this retelling! It's not quite 5 stars, as there were a couple of bits that were hard to read.

TheKidUpstairs I'm glad it's a quick read! My hold finally came in today, I'm going to try to get through as much as I can before #CampLitsy24 discussions this weekend. Since you're getting into his backlist, this one from a couple years ago was fantastic: 2w

Deblovestoread I follow her on Instagram but haven‘t read her book yet. I really like her science based approach but got a little turned off when she started selling her “anti-spike” product. 3w
jenniferw88 @Deblovestoread I'm diabetic, and I'm going to start some of the hacks, as I found them fascinating. There were also a couple of pudding recipes that I wanted to try—especially the Eton Mess with Cacao Nibs one, as I thought meringues would be a no-no for me. She wears a CGM, and I've just started wearing one myself, so I'm learning what works for me, and it's provided some ideas. 3w

Another series started, and I loved it! I didn't get the culprits in this one, and looking forward to reading the next one.

Was interested in this after reading that it was a major influence on the original Matrix movie. And like the first few times I saw The Matrix, I didn‘t grasp all of it, but I did understand it well enough that I wasn‘t totally lost! Definitely see how groundbreaking it was when it was published in 1984. I‘m glad I read it!

#bookspinbingo - #doublespin for this month

This seems to be an #unpopularopinion, but this didn‘t do it for me. This is another character-driven book where not much happens. It‘s just a bunch of privileged or bohemian people doing a lot of drugs and having a lot of sex. I need plot! Or some semblance of a plot. I would‘ve bailed but was reading this for #pop24, a book about a 24 year-old. I‘m just glad it‘s over.

Loved it! I‘m not a huge sci-fi girl but this is my 2nd Weir book (also loved The Martian) so maybe I just love his sci-fi. Just a great read!

#bookspinbingo
#pop24 - book set in space

ChaoticMissAdventures I think it is the humor he throws in, and the focus on the characters. I loved the 2 you mentioned but was really let down by his other novel. You might enjoy Becky Chambers she has a similar scifi style to her series 2mo
OriginalCyn620 @ChaoticMissAdventures Definitely love his humor! I‘ve not heard of that series but I‘ll have to check it out sometime! 2mo
TheAromaofBooks I really enjoyed this one and The Martian. But like @ChaoticMissAdventures I wasn't a huge fan of Artemis. Weir did NOT do a good job writing a female POV lol A scifi series that I really enjoyed was the Aurora Cycle. Mainly because I need my scifi to have some snarky humor 😂 2mo

This is on the Modern Library list of 100 best novels, but I‘ll be damned if I can figure out why. I guess it‘s one of those books that I just didn‘t get?

#pop24 - book that‘s been turned into a musical

JamieArc I remember having a hard time with the book, but the musical is one of my favorites! 2mo
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 2mo
RamsFan1963 I saw the movie back in the 80s, I fell asleep in the theater. The only good thing about it was Jimmy Cagney, in his last film role. 2mo
Ruthiella I loved this book but I read it in the last century. I don‘t know how I‘d feel about it if I read-read it. 🤔 2mo
