Pickpick

There was less about Aix-en-Provence in this instalment than is usual for this series, but I enjoyed it anyway. An interesting mystery and some developments in the lives of the characters.

Crazeedi Is the series good? I have read Martin Walkers series set in France, it's good 1mo
Crazeedi And I see it's on britbox! 1mo
CarolynM @Crazeedi I like the series a lot, mainly because the way they go about their business feels very French (although I know it‘s written by an American who lives there) & it has some great tidbits about Aix which I always enjoy. I can‘t quite bring myself to watch the TV version - I want the characters to be French not English! Also why I can‘t bring myself to watch the Three Pines adaptation. I‘ve read one of the Walkers, will read more one day… 1mo
Crazeedi @CarolynM very true about the shows , I'll definitely check out this series 1mo

Bailedbailed

I ended up bailing on my February #DoubleSpin book. I really wanted to like this one, because I enjoyed the 1st in the series, The Vintage Caper. But this one was about property and development, and as much as I tried, I just couldn't get into it.

TheAromaofBooks Another one off the list!! 2mo
julieclair I liked The Vintage Caper, too, but I'll cross this one off my list. ❌ 2mo
CoffeeNBooks @julieclair I have book #3 also, The Corsican Caper, and I'm still willing to give that one a try! 😁 2mo
julieclair I'll be interested to hear what you think! 1mo

tpixie I want to read this…. 2mo
Gissy @tpixie Apparently this is book #1 in a trilogy according to GR. They are short, this is one is only 207 pages. Book one is more about season in the country. Audiobook is available in my account next month, so I will try to read it because story starts during the month of January. It has good rating in GR 2mo
mabell One of my all time favorites! ❤️🇫🇷 There are others(more stories), but I‘ve always thought of this as a standalone, so no need to feel like you have to read the trilogy 2mo

This was a slow burn mystery, and when I mean slow burn, think snails are faster. But the ending was worth it. All the little twists and turns were great.
Darcy and three of her best friends are called to France by her grandmother, who owns a Chateau and has some secrets thar she is ready to come clean on. Unfortunately, she dies before her secrets are out.

TODAY‘S PROMPT: LOST

Who wouldn‘t want to go to Paris and photograph carousels?

This book will appeal to those who enjoy France, antiques, warm-hearted characters, the Provencal countryside, chateaus, and European history during WWII.

A charming, heart-warming read.

Soft pick

If you want to know more about the pétanque game, it's an interesting read.

Some mistakes in the French parts of the book 🙄 and it's important to note that his time in France was in the 90s, in a very touristy village.

Bailedbailed

About to bail - why do they all sound the same and why are they all awful? Anyone who has read this are any of them redeemable?
