I started this one with 5 yr-old #Sassafras but found that there were too many harsh voices and unkind words. So I finished it on my own. Kate Winslet‘s performance was impressive. I liked it. 3/5 ⭐️s.

#Sassafras and I found a new kids series that we really like. Mega Bat inadvertently hitched a ride in a papaya crate to Canada 🇨🇦. He loves watching Star Wars and has a pigeon girlfriend. The second book is Mega Bat and Fancy Cat. A solid 3/5🦇s !
I read this with #Sassafras (a reread for me). When I took a break, he told me that he was going to read ahead, but that he wouldn‘t “spoil it” for me. We are planning to watch the movie soon. The little Madam Alexander dolls are from McDonald‘s happy meals years ago. 4/5🌈s
#Sassafras says AWESOME! He had many laugh out loud moments during our read. It has what I call “little boy humor” and his favorite parts were when characters were initiated into the Toad Pee Club. I enjoyed reading it to him. We are definitely going to get the next book in the series! A hit! 5/5🐸s
#Sassafras and I finished another bedtime read tonight. I actually liked this one. Sassafras says that his favorite part was when the service man was startled to see a penguin and ran out of the house. 3/5⭐️s We are looking for our next read and are open to recommendations.
#Sassafras and I finished this as one of our bedtime reads. His favorite part was when Pa had the threshing machine come help harvest wheat. He was amazed that Laura had never seen a machine before. So he began listing all the machines she hadn‘t seen...it was a long list. 3/5⭐️s

My #Sassafras sees me making to-do lists and made one of his own today (using beginning sounds of the words).
TOTW=Take over the world (he‘s been listening to GrandDad🤨)
PHWS=Play Hotwheels
WTT=Water the tree 🌲
BLS=Build Lego set
ECC=Eat candy canes
CMR=Clean my room
BLC=Build Lego city
LEGO (self explanatory 🙄)
I wonder if he likes Lego?🤔
Notice he checked everything off the list in blue. I‘ve never completed a to-do list myself.
We finished this story a few days ago. There was a lot of info that was alluded to, so I had to explain much to a 5-yr-old. It did introduce the subjects of cruelty and death, but ultimately is a story of friendship and caring.
Last night, our city police dog was killed in the line of duty. #Sassafras has met/ interacted with the dog at library events. I want to give him appropriate info, but am not sure how to handle the violent nature of it.
