I don't have the tagged book, but I do have others by Plutarch. Now I'm curious about his thoughts on women. Added a Robert Harris book for Roman reference 😜
#sobbinwomen #MelodiousMusicals

(I've never seen the musical, but had a crush on Evan on the television show)

CrowCAH Love the tissues in the pic; nice touch! (Sorry I couldn‘t leave the video of the song, from the play; updated to the new iOS and typing in Litsy is like writing in the dark. And I can‘t paste, otherwise there would be a link.) 7y
drokka @CrowCAH No worries about the video, I was able to find one on YouTube. A little horrified by the lyrics (clearly times have changed lol) but there was loads to work with 😁 7y
Andrea4 You should read Plutarch's Advice to the Bride and Groom- a letter so it's short. I think a lot of efitions have that paired with a letter to his wife, A Consolation to his Wife. You'll have a laugh and then be moved. 7y
drokka @Andrea4 Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look for those. 7y

#melodiousmusicals @CrowCAH This book had plenty of spunky upbeat women & very little #sobbinwomen even though they lived in veiled secrecy with their families & husbands for three years. The book is written in first person plural making for an interesting narrative, I thought it worked really well🤓

saresmoore Me too! I liked this one a lot. 7y
emilyhaldi Sounds fascinating! 7y
CrowCAH Sounds interesting and a good opposite to sobbin‘ women! 7y

#sobbinwomen #melodiousmusicals For me the stand out sobbin woman of recent times has to be Gwyneth Paltrow when she won the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love. Of course she isn't alone, see the article below for the Top 10 Embarrassingly Tearful Oscar Speeches....but do bring your own tissues! Also doubles for #threewordtitles

Ms_T Cringe! 7y
Andrew65 @Ms_T Oh yes big time! 7y

Truman Capote left a few #sobbinwomen in his wake. This novel certainly portrays him as 2 faced. #twofacedtuesday #melodiousmusicals #spookyoctober @Jess7 @CrowCAH

CrowCAH Heart break = sobbin‘ women lol (check the spelling of your hashtag) 7y
Andrew65 @CrowCAH If it's anything like my iPad it changes the letters when my back is turned, frustratingly it corrects I think to I honk regularly! 😂 Don't know why it has it in for me so much. I am very nice to it. (edited) 7y

Ugh, the misogyny of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers does NOT hold up. ? I can't believe I watched this movie as a child. If they're interested in #sobbinwomen I'm sure they'll love The Trojan Women, it's full of pain.
"O God! Now smite the close-shorn head! Tear your cheeks with your nails. God help me! I have fallen as a slave to a treacherous foe I hate . . . Oh weep for me, ye Trojan dames! Undone! Undone and lost!" #melodiousmusicals

CrowCAH Nice reference; both crying 😢 7y
Andrew65 @CrowCAH it's one of those musicals that has not stood the test of time! 7y
CrowCAH @Andrew65 it‘s actually one of my favs; that‘s why it made the short list. Eh, we all can‘t like the same things. 7y

Andrew65 @CrowCAH It was one of my mum's favourites because of Howard Keel - what a voice he had! Have to admit although not stood the test of time in terms of themes it is still a really enjoyable musical. 7y
CrowCAH @Andrew65 have to admit I‘m a Howard Keel fan too! I guess, but if one just watches it for entertainment, it‘s a nice wholesome musical, with lessons learned at the end and a happy ending; what I like! 7y
Andrew65 @CrowCAH Agreed 😊 7y
