I‘ve got some audiobook credits to use up before the end of the month.

I‘m looking for help to decide what audiobooks to use the credits on. What are your favourite audiobooks?

Karisimo This one has a full cast! 6d
Mrs_B I love this one 6d

Andrew65 @Mrs_B Thanks, I love his books, but this is one I haven‘t read. 6d
Mrs_B I have the BBC full cast dramatisation - Benedict Cumberbatch is brilliant as “the Angel Islington”. (Also love all the word plays on London Underground stations) 6d
marleed Full cast of Daisy Jones and the Six, Tom Hanks reading The Dutch House, Meryl Streep reading Tom Lake - or Julia whelan narrating her own romance novel Thank you for Listening and doing both the male and female parts so well I forgot it was a single voice! 6d
Andrew65 @Mrs_B Definitely adding this one to my buy list, sounds excellent. Thanks 😊 6d
Andrew65 @marleed These are excellent suggestions, off to explore them 😊 6d
AlaMich I enthusiastically second what @Mrs_B said about Neverwhere!! 6d
AlaMich Also this one…a very original thriller in the truest sense. 6d
Andrew65 @AlaMich Thanks for this 😊 6d
Deblovestoread I enjoyed both Unlikely Animals and Starter Villian on audio but my favorite to recommend is 6d
IMASLOWREADER verity, four winds, kitchen confidencial, taste, the apartment 6d
CoffeeNBooks Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series. 6d
ImperfectCJ Marin Ireland is awesome in this one. 6d
Aimeesue Echoing @CoffeeNBooks with the Gamache books, anything Stephen Fry narrates (the complete Sherlock Holmes is excellent) and I loved 6d
Larkken I love the narrators Lorelei King or Dominic Hoffman! And the full cast audiobooks like @Mrs_B says are always worth it # 6d
Read4life I know you enjoy Jessica Redland & she has a few newer books out that I enjoyed on audio. Books narrated by Imogen Church (Ruth Ware & Lucy Foley books are some), for something lighter & inspiring I enjoy the Eternity Springs series by Emily March. 5d
CarolynM Georgette Heyer‘s mystery novels read by Matt Addis are wonderful. Try 5d
Erinreadsthebooks Annie Jones from From the Front Porch podcast just did an episode on her audiobook recommendations. 5d
kwmg40 Anything narrated by Simon Vance, especially Guy Gavriel Kay's books. 5d
TieDyeDude @aimeesue stole my recommendation (Amina al-Sirafi). Also, David Grohl's book was excellent on audio. 3d
Andrew65 @Deblovestoread Thanks this one looks interesting 😊 3d
Andrew65 @IMASLOWREADER Thanks for these 😊 3d
Andrew65 @CoffeeNBooks That‘s a good idea, this is an excellent series and only read the first few. 😊 3d
Andrew65 @ImperfectCJ Looks a good suggestion. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @Aimeesue This is one author‘s books I want to try, and Stephen Fry is an excellent narrator. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @Larkken Not aware of Dominic Hoffman as a narrator, I will explore these. I love Lorelei King as a narrator. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @Read4life Yes, Jessica Redland books are excellent as audiobooks. I‘ve also enjoyed Ruth Ware‘s boons. I will definitely explore the Lucy Fokey books, only read one so far. I also do need to get back to the Emily March books. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @Bookwormjillk Thanks I do want to get to more Barbara Kingsolver books 😊 3d
Andrew65 @CarolynM I‘ve only read one of these, so they are an excellent suggestion. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @Erinreadsthebooks Thanks, I will check the podcast out 😊 3d
Andrew65 @kwmg40 I love Simon Vance as a narrator but not heard of Guy Gabriel Kay‘s books so I will explore these. Thanks 😊 3d
Andrew65 @TieDyeDude Excellent suggestions, thanks 😊 3d
kwmg40 @Andrew65 It‘s actually Guy Gavriel Kay. The misspelling is common. I just didn‘t want you to have trouble finding the books! His most well known book is 3d
Aimeesue @TieDyeDude Everyone should listen to Amina! So well done! 💙 2d
kspenmoll I have enjoyed the Karen Pirie series 18h

Pickpick

I started out reading this on Serial Reader but fell horribly behind and downloaded the audio. This weekend I caught up and then finished it. I was frequently amused by Evelina‘s complete naïveté in telling her story.

This audio edition includes an afterword by Orson Scott Card about reading this book because of his interest in Jane Austen that I found especially interesting.

Daisey #PemberLittens might also find this interesting. According to Orson Scott Card‘s research, this was one of Jane Austen‘s favorite books. Some of his commentary from the afterword is also included in the last part of this post: http://www.hatrack.com/osc/reviews/everything/2012-07-26.shtml 1mo
TheBookHippie I fell behind too this may be the way to go! 1mo
TheAromaofBooks I'm doing a terrible job hosting this as a buddy read 😂 Thank you for joining me - I'm enjoying this one, but I'm not sure it's going to be one I want to read again and again like I do Austen's stories. The secondhand stress is high!!!! 1mo

Daisey @TheBookHippie I thoroughly enjoyed this edition! 1mo
Daisey @TheAromaofBooks I completely understand. I enjoyed it, but I also do not have a whole lot to say about it either. Glad you brought it to my attention! 1mo
TheBookHippie @TheAromaofBooks I like the laid back hosting! 1mo
TheAromaofBooks @TheBookHippie - It's more like “oh hey, I'm still here, hope you are too!!“ 😂 1mo

Just found out Spotify Premium includes an audiobook version of A Little Life! Seeing as I have 4 days to read 600+ pages before my book is due, this will allow me to continue reading at my own pace 😊

Pickpick

Stayed up late listening to this propulsive, chilling take of a former child star who is unable to outrun the doomed cult horror movie she starred in as a child. Is the film really cursed, or is a murderer on the loose? Highly recommend. #audiobooks

Finished / Staring in audiobooks today
#audiobooks #finishedstarting

I don't think this was the best book for audio, but it was fascinating. I have an annotated Dracula and I think this book is a great companion.

It pieces together writings, Oscar Wilde and history. It‘s a slice of LGBTQ+ history and how the community lived in mid to late 1800 Ireland. How all of this helped make Dracula. All of the influence, references, imagery, etc.

As a horror writer, I‘m trying to listen to the audiobooks available of the novels on the preliminary ballot for the 2023 Bram Stoker Awards. #horror #audiobooks
