Listened via audiobook. #triggers #HEA Loved the story and rooted for Coach the entire time! Narration was phenomenal, as usual.

If this were only Violet‘s story, I‘d feel differently. Since it‘s Violet + Finch‘s, it made me mad.

It begins innocuously enough, an unlikely friendship forming between two struggling teens, helping each other through mental illness and grief. But then, with the (predictable) ending, it feels more harmful than helpful to the dialogue around mental health.

After this book + The Female of the Species, I really need some good, happy books. 😂

Scochrane26 As a therapist, I really had a problem with the last half of the book. There are other ya books that handle mental illness in a more responsible way. 5y
aa_guer2021 Good to know. I will have to be careful since there will be #triggers 5y

Dorothy Must Die | Danielle Paige

I work in a bookstore, and tons of people come in for the Dorothy Must Die series. I read the first book and was pretty disgusted with it. The main character was annoying and nothing felt very well developed for it. I always warn people away from it now.

#unpopularopinion @Libby1

knittedgnome I had this recommended to me and also was not a fan. Barely finished it! 6y
Cailey_Mac I enjoyed it up until the third book; after that it seemed more of a mad-lib book, was extremely dull, and just didn‘t make any sense. 6y
ravenlee I hated that book. And so did my entire book club - and consensus is unheard of! Only two of us even finished it. 6y

ravenlee My #unpopular opinion is that I didn't like The Pillars of the Earth. A customer whose taste seemed in line with mine told me I HAD TO READ IT, so I did. I slogged through it and never enjoyed any of it, but I felt like I had to finish it. 6y
Libby1 Ooh. Doesn‘t look like this one would be for me, either. 6y
jwashreads @knittedgnome and @Cailey_Mac I gpt a BEAUTIFUL ARC of it at work--it was all wrapped in a box and had a pretty bpw and I HAD to have it. I was so disapppinted. 6y
jwashreads @ravenlee aw I'm so sad you didn't like Pillars of the Earth. My dad recommended it to me and I loved it. And the sequel. Haven't read the third one yet. I'm always leary of customer recommendations though. 6y
shaynarae @ravenlee I didn‘t like Pillars of the Earth either, even though it should‘ve been right up my alley. But my biggest #unpopularopin is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah 6y
Minervasbutler Another thumbs down for Pillars of the Earth from me. 6y
thea-block @shaynarae I also didn‘t like The Nightingale by Hannah. I went into it excited having heard great things but I couldn‘t get into the structure of the book or the characters, and too many #triggers for me! Pillars of the Earth has been on my TBR but now I‘m not sure! 6y

BiblioNyan

This is an excellently written book so far, but the triggers for Depression are STRONG. They are making it very difficult for me to read this. I really hope I don‘t have to DNF the book because of them, because this feels like such an important read.

For anyone who may be sensitive to subject matter surrounding depression, like me, know that this book talks about symptoms & experiences heavy handedly.

Bailedbailed

Holy trigger warning bat man! This book starts out with a graphic rape and murder of a minor from her point of view and quite frankly after that it doesn‘t really matter what it does. I could see it being a provoking read but that is just not where my headspace is right now. #dnf #bail #nope #triggers

JSW I have so much respect for you for walking away. ✊🏻 7y
Jabberwocky @JSW I really appreciate it. I find it hard to bail but it was just too much. 7y

I almost bailed on this one. It took me a long time to get into it. It‘s definitely a tough read with serious abuse. But I found that I couldn‘t leave Turtle without finding out how her life turned out. I‘m definitely glad I stayed. 🌲

CoffeeBooksRepeat Love this!! 7y
Godmotherx5 Stephen King recommended it during his book tour. High praise for sure. I‘m just not sure I can handle it. #triggers 7y
NatalieR @Godmotherx5 SK recommendation was how it landed on my radar. 7y

Yes, it has twists and turns, but I found it depressing (like a Lifetime movie). I don't need a happy ending wrapped up neatly with a bow, and even though this book had good reviews, I can't recommend it. #litsyAtoZ #triggers I bought this as a gift based on reviews, and now am thinking I should give an apology?

Reviewsbylola I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this one. It definitely was depressing but I thought it was executed very well. 8y
Wife @Reviewsbylola It did meet thriller criteria for sure. By all reviews I read, I'm definitely in the minority on this one. 8y
