TheBookHippie I‘m thinking bourbon with reading this book could help 🥃👀 3mo

BarkingMadRead @TheBookHippie that would change everything 🤣 3mo
dabbe @TheBookHippie I'm thinking we'll definitely need it for the next chapter because Dmitri ain't finished with his speech. 😳 3mo

mcctrish @TheBookHippie I think drinking in general is recommended 3mo
mcctrish @Cuilin “I will explain everything “ and yet say nothing at all despite All Of The Words being used 🤦🏻‍♀️ 3mo
mcctrish I have to say the little house at the back of the garden is my favourite character so far (edited) 3mo
BarkingMadRead @mcctrish 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 3mo
Cuilin @mcctrish yes! He used All the words. And we are none of the wiser. Grrr. 3mo
5feet.of.fury @Cuilin same thoughts 3mo
5feet.of.fury I skimmed this chapter, got to “To insects- sensuality!” Really questioning my life choices here haha 3mo
dabbe I just love this group. 🤩😂😍 3mo
Ruthiella Glad that I am not the only person who has no clue what Mitya is getting at. I have a feeling if I knew Russian even and could read it in the original, I‘d still be none the wiser. 😆 3mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig ?"I‘m not drinking, I‘m just relishing,....I‘m not drunk at all. Cognac is cognac, but I need two bottles to get drunk"— ? 3mo
Aimeesue @TheBookHippie Can confirm: bourbon def helps. It also makes me want to dress up penguins, so that explains that! 😂 3mo
BarkingMadRead @Aimeesue 🐧🐧🐧 3mo
Aimeesue @BarkingMadRead Penguin in a headscarf today. My life is very unpredictable 😂 3mo

Because no one has ever heard of “Hickory Dickory Dock,” “Little Miss Muffet,” “Jack and Jill Went Up The Hill,” or even “There Was an Old Man from Nantucket,” we have to have this sappy... I don‘t even know what to call this. Was she drinking (as she suggested - liquid courage and all) when she wrote this?

• Sadly, a #DNF for me. I was in over my head trying to understand what Neitzsche was writing. Shame because I like #philosophy and would like to explore his work. Maybe I'll try another of his or revisit this one in the future, but it's not for me right now •

3 / 25

2 / 5 ⭐️

• Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how random and pointless this story seemed to me 🤨 2 / 5 ⭐️ for being Stephen King and that's probably not a good enough reason •

Bailedbailed

• Bailed at 20% on audiobook. I had really high hopes for this one but it missed the mark for me completely. I was hoping for a mature, reflective memoir of the impact and importance of books in the author's life, not a sarcastic romp through the stacks with unnecessary vulgarity and a pleading attempt at humor. I guess the author's tone wasn't respectful enough for me. Maybe audio wasn't the right format •

AmyK1 I read the physical book and felt the exact same way. Very disappointing. 4y
bibliobliss @AmyK1 So much potential but indeed very disappointing 4y
Bette I had to bail on the book as well. I had the same expectations as you. 📚😐 4y
bibliobliss @Bette ☹️ I really didn't want to bail but I couldn't continue 4y

NOPE!

I remember my daughter used to have these books but I never read them first. I should have. Junie B Jones irritated me to no end and it was all I could do to get through it. This is a kid I would probably slap

LibrarianRyan That was a popular opinion when the books were hot. For parents who thought Junie B was too snotty, we would recommend Clementine. Such cute books. They are the same reading level where Romana is a few levels ups. 4y
TheLudicReader I loved Junie. I could barely get through them, I laughed so hard. 4y

Sorry, unknown numbers do not get answered by this girl.

While the phone call set up is a bit of a stretch in this day and age I‘m really enjoying this so far.

Just NO! This is a definite no for me. I did not like this book. Let me say I had no issue with the taxidermy or the suicide. But the descriptions about how dirty Jessa was were too much along with Brynn. There were too many details and not enough aha moments. The characters are all confused leaving the reader confused. Jessa treats her mother as a non person. She‘s sleeping with her brother‘s wife.

kindergartenkat I was wondering about your rating of this one. It‘s been on my TBR. I wondered why you didn‘t like it. I‘m glad you shared here! 5y
jb72 @kindergartenkat Yeah I was unsure how I was going to rate it at first (1 or 2 stars). I haven‘t really thought of my full review yet for GR. I normally don‘t like to “hate” on a book, but honestly this book is just not very good. 5y

Been looking forward to this book but it took me less than a minute to bail. I can‘t listen to the author‘s voice. 🙉🤦🏾‍♀️ Off to reserve a print copy. #bailed #narrationmatters #nope

Megabooks Ooo! Glad I went print with this! It‘s a good book. Authors reading their books can go either way. 5y
Kaila-ann Glad I got a print copy. I‘m about 3/4 of the way through and it‘s pretty fascinating. 5y
Bookish.SAM Oh no!!! The narrator totally makes (or breaks!) a book for me. Especially frustrating when it‘s a book you‘re really looking forward to... I feel for ya 😕 (edited) 5y

KT1432 Lol! A bad narrator can really ruin your reading experience! I have a physical copy but have yet to dive in. 5y
SW-T Narrators make all the difference on audiobooks! 5y
Chelleo Yeah, bummer but I have no patience for a bad narrator. @Megabooks @Kaila-ann @bookish.sam @lele1432 @SW-T 5y
Susannah Same! I would have finished this book months ago if it weren‘t for the narrator‘s (author‘s! 😳) voice. I‘m super sensitive to audiobook narrators; they really can make or break a book. 5y

Well. This sounded weird in a good way but was actually weird in a i-value-my-time-more-than-this way. Alas! This is the first time in years I've #dnf a book (instead of shelving it for later). It was that rough. #mommyreads #nope
