Jessica and the Earthquake | Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne
post image
Pickpick

Usually the heaviest sleeper in the house, Jessica is the only one to stir when the house rumbles around her. In the morning, they learn this is the first #SweetValleyEarthquake since 1972! Liz wants to write about it for The Sixers, but Jess is the only one who seems to have experienced it. As usual, she starts exaggerating & soon has talked herself into predicting the next quake! Lila wants to humiliate her, so she throws a party, tees are made!

After reading “My Secret Sister,” by Helen Edwards and Jenny Lee Smith, I would recommend reading “Secret Daughter” by Shilpi Somaya Gowda or “Please Adopt Me” by Lynne Pardoe. These books give the reader the same feeling. Jenny had been wealthy growing up, while Helen, her long lost twin was poor, abused and uncared for. Toward the second half of this novel, Jenny‘s father passed away. That extremely affected her life because he was a great

Later on, her mother passed away and she went on to find her biological family. When she finds Mercia‘s address she wants nothing to do with her. When Jenny finally tracks down her sister she, Helen is devastated. The two now feel complete together. The two 1mo

Poor Lila! | Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne
post image
Pickpick

Lila prepares to throw the Founder‘s Fling to celebrate Unicorn Club (the mayor even attends!) with souvenir tees & wants a purple hot air balloon to add the perfect finishing touch. But after her credit card is declined, the chauffeur‘s fired, George says no to the balloon & she overhears him saying he lost a fortune, Lila concludes she‘s poor. She asks Melissa to be her “poverty advisor”— it‘s all ridiculous & a dog manages to warm Jessica‘s ❤️!

TorieStorieS @dabbe Indeed!! He looks wiry but he‘s got a lot of poodle in him, so he‘s actually really soft and fluffy! Plus, he loves showering so he is always pleasant to pet! 😊 1mo
JenlovesJT47 Lol I love Lila, she‘s so dramatic and I‘m here for it 😆 1mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 This is a great Lila book, actually… I love when she reveals her softer side and also her totally out of touch self, which is prevalent throughout (she actually has to walk to school a few times here!!) 4w

The Unicorns Go Hawaiian | Francine Pascal, Jamie Suzanne
post image
Pickpick

It‘s another #SweetValleyChristmas & though the Wakefields have plans for a skiing trip with both sets of grandparents, Jessica & Mandy Miller enter a recipe contest for the Pineapple People & win a trip to Hawaii! Liz would rather ski, & Jessica insults Lila by inviting Mary Wallace instead since Lila‘s already been. Mr. Fowler comes to the rescue & joins them & pays for Lila, Ellen & Janet—along with his new girlfriend, Bambi. Lila hates her!

JenlovesJT47 I was gonna say, is this the one with the girlfriend named Bambi? Yep! Haven‘t read this one in awhile but it‘s a fun one! 1mo

The author uses techniques like "I," "we," "me," "us," etc. to show the audience what perspective it is coming from. The author expresses how Helen feels, with powerful words to enhance the reader‘s imagination. I enjoy reading books like "My Secret Sister” because it shows how different life can be for the less fortunate and the fortunate. This is the ideal book for those who love emotional, dramatic and tense novels.

Helen was brought up during the post-war years. She was physically abused by her father and verbally mistreated by her mother. She only felt protected with her gran. Jenny Lee Smith, Helen‘s twin, grew up in Newcastle. She was an only child. Jenny was extremely loved by everyone, especially her father, who loved her dearly. She enjoyed playing golf with her family and friends. Edwards and Lee Smith wrote this novel in first person point of view.

Pickpick

In book 3 of SV Kids, Mrs. Becker is out with the flu and the twins get not one but two different substitute teachers. The first was a pushover but the second, Mr. Marshall, won‘t put up with any shenanigans from the kids. Rumors start flying after a bunch of the kids are hanging out in the park on the weekend and see Mr. Marshall get in the back of a police car. They are convinced he is an escaped criminal! Turns out he is actually a police ⬇️

Here‘s the missing page! It is the crucial plot point!!

JenlovesJT47 Thank you so much! 🤗I was like what the heck, that was the whole plot of the book, they picked the worst time to miss a page! 😅 3mo
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 No problem!! I was impressed that such crucial information was all only on that one page!! 🤣 Hopefully that doesn‘t happen too often, but let me know, as I‘m happy to fill in the gaps! 3mo
JenlovesJT47 I‘ve read about 6 books so far and there‘s been a page or two missing from each one ☹️ but nothing too big a deal until this one 😆 I‘m reading the Senior Year books, just finished book 3 (read the first 2 earlier this year) and it was missing 3 or 4 pages but luckily I have the first 15 books here with me. The problem is not like the page is ripped out but that they actually scanned 2 pages at a time and they‘re on top of each other and you ⬇️ (edited) 3mo

TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 That‘s good that it‘s usually not a pivotal page! But still frustrating so let me know if you want me to photograph any others— it‘s no trouble! 3mo
