October #wrapup #spookoween #31by31 #witchathon

Had so much during Litsy spooky time with all the marathons. I read 4 books, one of them was witchy, 2 comics, 1 children‘s picture book, and 1 middle grade fiction with over 32 hours of reading time for the month. Thank you to all the wonderful Littens for hosting these events @TEArificbooks @TheSpineView @Catsandbooks

I‘m at dinner with my husband and his friend. While they watch football, I‘ll read my book! And eat a piece of cake! #hyggehourreadathon

TheBookHippie I love cake. 🍰 2d

I finished my audio reread a few days ago, but this morning I revisited the postscript to more closely consider Garth‘s discussion of the way writers wrote about WWI and specifically its influence on Tolkien‘s work.

This quote emphasizes one of the key aspects of Tolkien‘s work that I love. Many of his characters are simple people who just keep going and make a difference in their own small ways.

wordslinger42 I wasn‘t able to join in for this one, but I‘m looking forward to reading it at some point! 2d
Daisey @wordslinger42 It‘s a really good one! I‘ll look forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you get to read it. 2d

I found this quote from Verlyn Flieger enlightening as it makes such an interesting comparison between a return from war and a return from Faerie.

Pickpick

Interesting story of Dutch woman Mata Hari. Death my firing squad after unproven charges of being a spy conspiring between Germany and France during WWI. I generally enjoy Paulo Coelho, and this one was ok, but not my favorite from him.

I've finally read this remarkable classic; a suitable read at this time of the year, as there is nothing scarier than war and it is all the more scarier that such horrors are still happening.

"What do they expect of us if a time ever comes when the war is over? Through the years our business has been killing;–it was our first calling in life. Our knowledge of life is limited to death. What will happen afterwards? And what shall come out of us?"

Finding Winnie | Lindsay Mattick
Panpan

Pretty wordy but interesting because it is a true story and possibly relates to Pooh bear.
