The book is short, but intense. Full of information about Black Holes, their history and various theories and hypothesis about their formation, characteristics, and purpose.

Interesting read for anyone interested.

I loved how Anne can create a whole tale that spans generations and decades from a single simple accident.

Imagine Franzen and Foer blending their words and worlds together in a literary blender .This novel would be the result. An epic of American Jewishness and of a world of Wars and a family.
Jacob the family man. The son and the father. The modern time image of the Old Testament namesake living in the modern world and facing real dilemmas.
This book was supposed to be one of the major event of the fall reading catalogue but it felt short.

Two masked men abduct single women who leave a club. A young politician is murdered, and a mummified body is found in a chimney where the new Parliament is being built.

And Big Cef is out of prison.

Rebus has to deal with all the following along with new eager blood in the force that is trying to prove itself.

This novel is different than its predecessors as there is barely any mention of family or loved ones.

The pigeon Tunnel by John Le Carre is not a full autobiography or a memoir. This book is a collection of stories that range from his childhood to this age of terror.

There are no top secrets here, no scandals or spies. Just vignettes of a long lived life, anecdotes, stories and recollection: some are true and some are hazy.

An enjoyable read that any Le Caree fan would enjoy immensely.

Over 70% read of this novel. The twists are too many in a novel that so far spanned a week in a life of a couple whose child is kidnapped. There were some interesting twists, but too many dead ends to even remember or mention. So far it's a 3 out of 5 read.

Canon Sidney Chambers a priest turned detective in the Grantchester in Cambridge.

The six stories in this volume range from robbery to killing to forging art work. They all take place between 1953 and 1955. The cozy mysteries are funny and witty with a cast of characters that will stick with you.

Sidney is not the ordinary priest, he is modern, young and in a way knows the mentality of his parish. He enjoys a drink and a mystery :)

A story within a story. The action takes place in the Kenyan Highlands, it involves the mystery of vanishing milk.

This is a very quick read, and it shows how man can be kind and evil at the same time. It shows a glimpse of the human nature.

When words come out, fly into the air, live for a moment, and die.

One of the shortest Rebus novels. It hits him close to home when his daughter is hurt in an accident.

Rebus with his usual set of supporting characters go on the hunt for traffickers , drug lords and nazi war criminals.

The book is ok some parts are funny, some are sad.

Amy shares a lot of stories about her childhood, how her parents lost their fortune and began all over again. She describes her lovers, her one night stand, the athletes and musicians she was with.

Amy talks about how she became a stand up comedian and how it was hard and it took her years to perfect her routine.

So far the best Rebus novel of the 8 I have read.

In this novel, Rankin uses a story he heard from a friend and builds up a whole narrative which is amazing.

John Rebus is mobile , he takes us all around Scotland in this book. From Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, to the Shetlands and the oil rigs in the Atlantic.

There are four crimes in this 500 pages novel. Rankin's most ambitious so far - as I am reading the series one books at time.

This is the first book that I have read by Sjon.

A novella set in the end of WW1 in Iceland and also through the Spanish Flu.

Mani Steinn our protagonist is 16 years old. Gay. Movie goer. Who comes of age during this period and through him we see a side of the Icelandic society that's less well knows to others.

The novella does contain graphic homosexual sex scenes that are quiet long in some chapters regarding this is a short book.

A fast yet deep book about the life of Donald Trump.

The book describes the fraud of Trump,his organization, how he shorts money, how he licenses his name for projects that he got no relation to.

The book describes the power and the awe associated with Trump; how it's a lucrative brand name, yet it's built on a house of cards.

I hope many people would read this book and see how horrible the future would be if this person gets elected.

Everyone should read this book before it is too late.

The 7th novel in the Rebus series is different &more realistic than anything before.

Rebus investigates the kidnapping of the daughter of the Lord Provost, &the suicide of an inmate after he was released from jail.

This dark tartan noir takes the reader into the back room of politics &the Silicon Glen of Scotland.

Reading this novel in the summer makes me miss the cold & snow of the winter, thanks Rankin for the shivers and freezing rain.

Pengiun Shorts are digital short stories meant to be read during a commute or a bus ride.

This short story by Anita Brookner is about an elderly lady; Elizabeth Warner and her biweekly appointment at the hairdresser. The characters are painted with a realistic brush. The author flashbacks to the past, and shows us the present.

A very realistic story that makes you think and ponder about the life we live.

This book isn't as explosive as one would think.An owner of a hotel rigged some rooms and spied on his visitors in various sexual positions and in various sexual arrangements.

And yes, Talese does say there are inconsistencies in the narrative, the dates and some events. Some would say that he should have checked and recheck everything written in the journal.But Talese wanted to present the material as is with all its promises and shortcomings.

With only a third of the book left. Talese does and repeatedly say there are inconsistencies in the journal of Mr Foos. I read in the Guardian that Sam Mendes will be directing a movie based on this book. The book improves in the last third of it. It's nice that some chapters are just a single case :)

So far it reads like amateurish porn. Some are exciting, but many are flat and expectant.

This book with its multiple narratives and various locations spin the tale of a scary spider invasion across the globe. A start of a well written series, that is realistic and scientific at the same time. The only short coming I found is that some characters were flat and one dimensional.

The plot attracts your attention from the very beginning till the last page. The turmoil of the human soul and the effect of love on it is a mystery, and Mark is trying to solve the mystery of love and how it affects the tender soul of Melville and produce Moby Dick and how Hawthorne was a catalyst.

So far this novel is beautifully written and keeps you going on.

It's less noir than the previous books

Rebus got too much on his plate and I think he was limited in his actions and ideas as he was preoccupied with his Brother being living with him after he was released from prison.

It's a good read not the best

Reading this book ... It's hilarious and lovely summer read about the City of Lights and its inhabitants from the pov of an esteemed actress who turned 100 years old.
