I‘m not a huge fan of the unreliable narrator, but I was intrigued by the premise of this book. What if the civil war never happened? If slavery still existed in part of the USA. The end reminded me of shades of Brave New World. Dystopian literature at its finest.

Enjoyed the different voices that the author used to tell the story. Somewhat predictable but a fast paced and compelling read.

Well done writing, about a young girl who is either demon possessed or mentally unstable. I liked the back and forth of the narrative and did not guess the ending which leaves you wanting more.

Beyond being a typical teen romance book or one of loss, this book delves into the empowerment of a young woman who sees herself as hopeless but is definitely not. Quick, wonderful read.

Reads like a novel. Lale a slavic Jew is sent to Auchwitz and because of his knowledge of several languages is valuable to the Germans. Smart and resourceful, Lale finds Gita and they become an unlikely romance during years of captivity and holocaust.

Fans of The Great Alone will love this book. I. am a sucker for a book which vividly describes the beauty of the outdoors. Throw in a murder and it‘s just about the perfect book.

Easy fun read. While Thesolo seems a bit like something out of Black Panther, I did enjoy the characters and the setting.

Living in Colorado myself, and travel memoir being my favorite genre, I really wanted to love this book. It is impressive that she walked through four continents, but she spends much of the book whining.

In this book, The garden is bursting with magical plants which help the townspeople see their lives more clearly. While I related to the characters especially Claire and found them engaging, I found the plot predictable and a bit overdone. Unlike Harry‘s Trees, the women in the story are capable of actual magic, although more of the variety of an untrained wizard. A good read but not a great one.#bookschool

Quick read and great start to 2019. A page turner and not sure how it‘s going to end book with a bit of redemption in the end.

Dry. I bought this for my Hallowed read and although it was scary to learn about all the psychopathological people listed it reads like a textbook.

One of my favorite books of 2018 I listened to it on audible and the voice the narrator used for B made her seem younger than she is. But I loved the multiple viewpoints and humor. Great read.

Fourth time. It is still wonderful. The illustrations by Jim Kay are superb.

I listened on audio which was difficult because I kept comparing the narration to the movie. Still one of my favorite books mostly due to the strong character of Scarlett who at 28 has three husbands, loses her parents, fights the carpet baggers, runs three businesses and loses her best friend and daughter. She alone battles the convention of her day and is a true liberated woman. The romantic in me also loves Rhett.

Lots of info about steamboats in the 1860s. Not really scary. The story seams to repeat itself multiple times.

Liane writes wonderful characters. While the plot of this book was not stellar, the characters keep you coming back for more.

Knowing almost nothing about the space program and astronauts in general I found this book interesting. For instance I never thought about the fact that you can‘t shower in space. A year of taking wet wipe baths is craziness.

Reminded me of Behind her eyes. Twists and turns. I liked how the author flipped back and forth from present to past to distant past. Page turner.

As someone who brings babies into the world everyday, I‘ve seen the drama in the book unfold daily. Pregnancy is a big deal. Sex is a big deal. Being a mother isn‘t always biology. Loved the characters. Wish the book had the art.

This is one of the few times that the book is not better. I finished it only cause I bought it. Ugh. Just not for me. No interest in the plot. The characters yuck. Not a gifted storyteller.

Good premise but it reminded me of Hot Zone. Would have liked a biological terrorism threat without the cloak and dagger.

Home was a state of mind, the peace that came from being who you were and living an honest life. There was no going halfway home. She couldn‘t build a new life on the creaky foundation of a lie. Not again. Not for home.

Loved the comparison of being an orphan in the 20s and 30s to foster care now. Quick read and fast paced. Good summer book.

I feel that she is a better poet than novelist. A biography of the childhood of Maya Angelou. This copy was from my local public library. I live in a rural community and love that they still stamp the due date.

This was my first Nora Roberts book. I typically like dystopian books but this one is the end of the world as we know it meets hogwarts deathly hallows. I‘ll likely read the next one but not that impressed.

This was a great book because Trevor discusses important and difficult issues like apartheid and poverty, domestic violence and race relations but does so through comedy. He tells his story in a humorous and engaging way.

Just spent a week in southern Utah practicing the tenants of this book. Great information. Makes you want to get out there and enjoy the outdoors.

Even Paul‘s Recommendation that women should ask their husbands if they had questions was revolutionary for that time period. He was encouraging women to learn! to ask questions, to seek out answers, to fully participate in the community.

It makes me sad to see my son a junkie after all the marchin I done, but makes me sadder to see you thinkin you can leave like your daddy did. You keep doin what your doin and the white man don‘t got to do it no more. He ain‘t got to sell you or put you in a coal mine to own you. He‘ll own you just as it is, and he‘ll say you the one who did it. He‘ll say it‘s your fault.

I finished it but... it was fairly predictable. Listened to it and liked the narrator.

Thumbs way up. Interesting narration and perspectives. Sad and poignant. Not your typical love story.

A descent page turner, what disturbs me most about this book is how the press tries to crucify Rachel the grieving mother. In my opinion, independence and self confidence are important values for children. I would never have thought twice about allowing my eight year old son to walk ahead on a familiar path that he had been on frequently. Not allowing your child independence causes them to lose their childhood innocence.

If all mass has gravity, does all gravity have mass? We don‘t know. Maybe there‘s nothing wrong with the matter, and it‘s the gravity we don‘t understand.

I really like saga books and the fact that this one takes place during the 1100s makes it even better. The history isn‘t always spot on, the extreme detail of the cathedral can get a bit tedious but since the cathedral was the reason he wrote the book, it is necessary. I like the strong women, Ellen, Alaina, Sally. I‘m not sure that one person could change sides as much as William did, but overall a good read.

Wow. The best book i‘ve read so far in 2018 and I‘m on book 11. A family saga about a Korean woman who is seduced by an older, richer man. Learned much about Koreans and their relationship with Japanese and the stereotypes placed upon them. Wonderful book. L

We need to take responsibility for our own families. This is the story of poor whites in Appalachia. Well written and engaging.

This story takes place on an Objiwa reservation. I liked the insights into Native American life and some of its history. At its. It‘s, though this is a book about how to deal with a horrible tragedy.

Read like sci-fi. I love the way Dan Brown discusses Art and literature through Robert Langdon but found his theories unconvincing. I never like the conclusions but the story is fast paced and I was introduced to Gaudi which makes me want to go to Barcelona.

This book could have been about 300 pages shorter. The love story of Claire and Jamie is lovely. I liked Claire‘s work at the hospital in Paris and the description of the royal court was interesting. But it was endlessly descriptive and a bit unbelievable.

Captivating who done it. Cass‘s willingness to believe that she is losing her mind, is everyone‘s fear that their genetics have caught up with them. Didn‘t predict the end but didn‘t find it particularly compelling.
