Wonderful book detailing the intersection of religion and science with the guise of a murder mystery. Artfullly compelling and a must read!
Science V religion? That age old debate has us traveling throughout Spain on a mad dash to find a 47 character password and I loved this journey. Not only would I read anything Dan Brown writes, I would literally follow Robert Langdon in his tweed suit anywhere.
I cried over Winston and barely half hour later I was swearing over his presumptuous behaviour. I know he's AI but this is fiction and I want him to be accountable for his actions.

I always heard his name being mentioned everywhere. Personally, it's very much an intellectual adventure at he beginning I felt hooked to the book the growing tension between the characters. His book has all the hallmarks of his Langdon series; vivid locations, historical tie-ins and a mad dash to the final reveal when we learn the secret Langdon has been chasing. Origin has all of that in typical Brown fashion, however, for me the reveal
Well #AwesomeApril went pretty well. I finished four books and read for 26 hours. I'm also close to finishing a couple more. Looks like my reading slump has passed. Thank you for hosting @Andrew65
Langdon finds himself amidst another mystery, this time to find out what his friend was going to reveal before he was murdered.
Not a bad book, but if I had to hear one more sentence about Robert‘s eidetic memory, I was about to throw the book out the window.
“May our philosophies keep pace with our technologies. May our compassion keep pace with our power. And may love, not fear, be the engine of change.”
“Historically, the most dangerous men on earth were men of God…especially when their gods became threatened.”
“Remember death. Even for those who wield great power, life is brief. There is only one way to triumph over death, and that is by making our lives masterpieces. We must seize every opportunity to show kindness and to love fully.”
“...it is in hearing the voice of the devil that we can better appreciate the voice of god.”
It's officially Paczki season! 😍💕📚🍩
" Love is not a finite emotion. We don't have only so much to share."
" TO PERMIT IGNORANCE IS TO EMPOWER IT." (This needs to be written everywhere.)
"There is only one way to triumph over death, and that is by making our lives masterpieces."
"The art is in knowing HOW to ask."
" History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it."
" Dialogue is more important than consensus."
Time taken: 6hrs.
This book has all the usual suspense, but then at the end it‘s amazingly philosophical as well. I spent the entire book desperately wanting to know what the big announcement was, but that was kind of anticlimactic. There was nothing new in the announcement, even for 2017. Winston, as a character, was the most intriguing and brought the philosophical twist. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
This. 100%
America needs THIS right now, not any of the BS currently available.

Sadly, it seems some people don‘t understand this. It‘s quite simple, really.

This is why tyrants so love division. They think it can prevent this.

This book was released in 2017. Given his turn around time on books, it‘s likely the main ideas for this book were solidified long before Trump ran for or bough the presidency. I wonder how much of these little details were added in response to Trump‘s campaign.

And we are seeing the results of this right now with right wing conservatives the ones least likely to wear masks, socially distance and stay home. Meanwhile, they are most likely to thrown tantrums in the store, spit in people‘s faces and pee on the floor. (I maintain that when this is over, these people‘s kids are going to act like that because that‘s the example being set. “I don‘t want to, so I can have a tantrum.” Good luck with that folks.)
I guess if people want to deny science and evidence in church, more power to them, but schools should be teaching science, not mythology. We have a separation of church and state. We need to respect it.

I just want to keep reading. I want to know what the announcement is and why a computer is freaking out in Langdon‘s head... but it‘s 3:30 and I‘m REALLY tried. Gah!!!

Finally getting to the new one. I‘ve never read this one. I‘m about three years behind on this one, but I‘m still very excited to read it.

Dan Brown was the first Author to make me fall in love with reading... but Origin took 70 chapters to get anywhere I could consider purposeful 😔
2nd 📚 DONE!! #awesomeaugust #readathon
Origin almost ALMOST deceived me! No spoiler intended, but I'm disappointed that it was predictable. The twist at the end of the novel is not a twist for me 🙄. Knew it and expected it.
Typical Mr. Brown to give a very detailed explanation on places, arts, symbolisms and I really enjoyed all of them.
3.5 🌟 out of 5 🌟
Another thrilling, suspensive and semiotic adventure of Rober Langdon. The theme of the book revolved around the basic question we as a human being always asked "where we come from?" and "where we are going?" Those are the questions to which Dr. Langdon's friend Edmond Kirsch was going to answer but he got assasinated by christian fanatic. Then the adventure begins. Dan Brown used AI technology, ancient symbolism very well as always.
"Robert," Ambra whispered, "just remember the wise words of Disney's Princess Elsa."
Langdon turned. "I'm sorry?"
Ambra smiled softly. "Let it go."
Langdon was still not quite used to working with Kirsch's computerized assistant. It's like having Siri on steroids.
"Ambra?" Langdon said. "Edmond decorated his parking spot with a painting?"
She nodded. "I asked him the same question. He told me it was his way of being welcomed home every night by a radiant beauty."
Langdon chuckled. Bachelors.
Love is a private thing, Ambra had taught him. The world does not need to know every detail.
Such a disappointment - his books are all the same. Will never read anything else by him
Perfectly cool weather this morning for some outdoor reading and some tea. 59F in Eastern PA. My plan is to finish this one today! #outdoorreading
I‘m reading. He is watching Scooby Doo. But we are getting in some cuddle time! These are the moments to treasure! #kidsoflitsy
My Sunday morning is starting off well. A book and my dog! Who could ask for more? #dogsoflitsy #quarantine
Looking for a quick read! Hopefully this will hit the spot. #quarantinereading
I like Dan Brown‘s writing but sometimes it seems he gets too in the weeds with detail and I get a little overwhelmed. It almost like he needs to show off how much he knows or has researched in the subject. There are some holes in the general story but over all I enjoyed this audio version. The narration was good.
May our Philosophies keep pace with our Technologies. May our compassion keep pace with our powers. And may Love, not fear, be the engine of Change 🖤
