Murder on Cold Street | Sherry Thomas
Pickpick

I love this installment in the series. I reread all the other four before reading this because this is not a stand alone. If you are just starting out read them in order. Is there anyone else who wants to learn how to knit just to make a Christmas pudding water bottle cozy ???

Bachelors of Bond Street | Shana Galen, Janna MacGregor, Minerva Spencer
Pickpick

I love anthologies. These three stories are all loosely connected by having a character work on Bond Street. You do not have to read them in order, in fact you can skip one and the others still make sense. The second and third stories are much better than the first. All in all, I enjoyed the anthology, I have read nearly all of Shana Galen‘s works and received this as an advanced reader copy in exchange for my review.

I know nearly everyone loved this book and it was good. I am glad I read it. But meh... not my favorite.

CocoReads It wasn‘t for everybody. It had mixed reviews at book group but I really like her-I will say her Borgia books were way better. 6y

So I was Pinterest-ing and this pops up. I‘m a bit worried about how they know which book I‘m reading but it‘s a list of Kate Quinn‘s recommendations. Link is in the comments.

CocoReads Ooh, that‘s a little freaky in the “big brother is watching” kind of way. Btw, I just bought her newest, The Huntress, tonight. My irl book group is reading it in September but I couldn‘t resist the release day sale! 6y

So this was my January read for #newyearwhodis. And because of personal/family problems I have barely read anything this month. I will make more of an effort to not only finish this book but read others off your list since you have nearly finished the list I sent. I hope you have enjoyed the books. It seems you have. I will continue to tag you in my reads as I get my act together. 😔

CocoReads @ElenaBaer I‘m sorry to hear you‘re going through difficulties right now. I am enjoying your list but take all the time you need and don‘t feel obligated to finish mine. Do what you need to do, take care of yourself. 6y
monalyisha Thanks for checking in, @ElenaBaer! I‘m sorry you‘re having a hard time. Hope everything takes a turn for the better soon! 💕 6y

So I opened this and the pages are upside/backwards. Done on purpose? To confuse those non readers who seek to disturb us? To generate talk and force people to ask about what you are reading ? Or just an OOPS !!

Starting two new books. One for my January swap and one that was a gift. I didn‘t reach my reading goal last year. 163/180. So I set a goal of 100 this year.

CocoReads This was a good one. Enjoy! 6y

The first half the the story was beautiful! There was literally one sentence that threw me off for the second half. I would still recommend this book. Echoes of the me too movement in the ending.

So.... In your goodreads reading challenge do you include books that you are re-reading, or only new reads?

CocoReads I include retreads. Most of the time, it‘s books that I read so long ago that they‘re like new to me anyway! 6y

What a great YA story. Told in alternating POV as they write to each other in a red moleskin notebook, leaving clues and having escapades. Quick read. Going to get a few copies for my middle school book club next school year.

So each chapter skips to someplace/someone new and there are no chapter headings to get the reader oriented. I hate that. I have to read the beginning of each chapter twice so I can figure out who is talking and where they are. Annoying.

Bklover Hmmmmm... I‘ve been waiting for paperback for this one- may have to make it a library rental. 6y
ElenaBaer @Bklover I actually bailed on it. I found myself skimming to try and find something happening. 6y

My first book borrowed from the library !!!
It took me a while to get a library card because they are hardly ever open!!
So how do you all decided which to buy and which to borrow?
Or do you just re-borrow or if you want to reread??

SassyBookworm I love borrowing books! I‘m sure if I had time to reread I would just reborrow but I have found so many to add to my TBR I haven‘t yet! 6y

Having a cheap version of the cheese/crackers/champagne that the two characters met over in this book. And ginger ale instead of champagne. So far it‘s ok. I‘m already a little tired of Alexa‘s self esteem issues even though I can relate.

Another great installment in the series. This one you definitely can‘t read out of order. It basically picks up where the last one left off. Only three more in the series and summer just started ?!?

I love when this author throws in some relevant historical figures. One of the last books had Lawrence of Arabia and this one has Dashiell Hammett!

So Locked Rooms is the next book in the series, book 8 and on page 4 they mention “the events that happen in Japan.” Those events are told in Dreaming Spies, book 14.
What do you do ? Wait and read in order ???????

So I just finished the original Holmes “Valley of Death,” and it was so-so. I‘m only 20 pages in this Holmes/Russell story and I already like it so much better. Does that happen to anyone else. The spin-offs are better than the originals ?

An adventure with just enough history to be intriguing. Sherlock Holmes. Mary Russell. Reminds me a little bit of the DaVinci code with its history backdrop. I am having a hard time getting my chores done this weekend. The only thing I don‘t like is that I didn‘t realize the publication order does not mean you are reading the tales chronologically.

I am really enjoying this despite being extremely busy at work. I haven't had much time to read but this book seems to be ok with short reads here and there. I never read the first book so there are some backstory things that are mentioned that I don't know but it doesn't matter I still understand what's going on.

It started off slow. Then we jump back in time to hear her story through the centuries she has been alive. I guess I am used to HEA and this was not it. There are more to the series but I am not sure I was to read 400 more pages, several times,to get to the end.
