Inspector Treadles, Charlotte Holmes‘s friend and collaborator, has been found locked in a room with two dead men, both of whom worked with his wife at the great manufacturing enterprise she has recently inherited. Charlotte finds herself in a case strewn with lies and secrets. But how can she concentrate on these murders, when Lord Ingram, her oldest friend and sometime lover, at last dangles before her the one thing she has always wanted?

I can‘t get enough of this series! I really loved how Inspector Treadles had a complete turnaround last book and how it was demonstrated in this one with his complete faith in Charolette‘s capabilities. I also adored the scenes between Mrs.Treadles and Mrs.Watson. It was so lovely, every book makes me fall deeper in love with Mrs Watson‘s character. The love mishaps last book haven‘t been resolved but they‘re developing so I‘m excited to read on.

My first #Roll100 for April finished. This was #74 which I had listed as “Any Audiobook” so I was happy to choose Book 5 in the Lady Holmes series. Although Lord Ingram‘s friend Inspector Treadles has been a bit of a judgy butthead to Charlotte given her fallen woman status, when he is jailed by Scotland Yard for the murder of 2 men, she doggedly works to find the truth. This was a good installment in the series, ⬇️

There‘s a maker‘s market by my house the 1st Saturday of the month. I like to buy postcards, cards & stickers by local artists (needed more now that I just joined #LitsyLove 💛). I found a few good things today & had to try these Argentinian empanadas because when someone is frying up fresh empanadas-count me in! I had a traditional beef & my fave an asparagus & mushroom. Enjoyed in my car listening to the tagged book because it‘s so windy today!

The covers of the Lady Holmes series (a new favorite) are all #WithWomanFacingAway I‘m on book 5 (tagged) but start with the first, A Study in Scarlet Women.

I enjoy this series so much. This is #5 and basically a locked door mystery with a man and his nephew murdered in a locked room. When a police inspector (and friend of Charlotte and Ingram) is discovered hiding behind a bed in the room, he won‘t give up his secrets. While I do have to suspend belief on some of the ways crimes are solved in these books, it‘s really the characters I enjoy the most. Funny and sharp with quirky mannerisms, they 🔻

Another solid entry in the Lady Sherlock series! I'm almost caught up 😁

Book 5 in the Lady Sherlock series is another pick. This time Inspector Treadles is accused of murder and it‘s up to Charlotte to solve it. I really do love Charlotte and I think the series‘ twist on the Sherlock Holmes books is so well done. 4⭐️

I‘m finally caught up with this series and am now anxious for the next one to come out. Charlotte Holmes is such a great character, as are her supporting cast. Mrs Watson is my favorite! The mystery in this one is very good, especially because one of the victims is so sympathetic it actually made me sad and the accused is a key supporting character from earlier books.

Beautiful hydrangeas are in bloom now at a local park! I saw these while on an #audiowalk with Murder on Cold Street—this series is so good! Charlotte Holmes is clever as always, and she‘s joined by an interesting cast of characters too. Book Two #JoysOfJune 🎧

I‘m loving this series so much. I love all of the characters in the book. And I love how Charlotte built her own family around her to help her solve crimes.

Sigh, now I have to wait until November for the next one.

#12booksof2020 I can‘t promote this series enough. This is the 5th one, & I continue to love the characters and mysteries. I admire the author because she moved to the US as a kid, had to learn English, & now writes fun books. @Andrew65

Another good entry in The Lady Sherlock series. This time Charlotte and her friends need to uncover secrets and solve two murders to exonerate Inspector Treadles. “Sherlock” was given only a bit part and Olivia begins to truly learn to manage her mother and to write her novel. Moriarity and his network remain in the shadows but will be a bigger threat in the future . Editing is needed but Murder on Cold Street is still a lovely escape. 3+⭐️

Admittedly I didn‘t love this much as others but still enjoyed it... the cast of characters are a great group and I didn‘t see the ending.

Sherry Thomas never disappoints with her Lady Sherlock series. I could never be as deductive as Charlotte! I finished listening to this Friday night, but haven't had a chance to post until now. #feastmode ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Almost a third of the way in and really liking it. Love this series!

My brain can't focus on anything, but I'm trying with these two tonight!

I love this installment in the series. I reread all the other four before reading this because this is not a stand alone. If you are just starting out read them in order. Is there anyone else who wants to learn how to knit just to make a Christmas pudding water bottle cozy ???

So love this series. Thomas keeps the traditions of a great Sherlock story & adds to it a very modern sensibility. There's the tradition cast of characters, clues & red herrings, London fog & hansom carriages, morsels of cake & missing revolvers. Add to that women who redefine themselves based on their own merits, live with overt racism & classism & refuse to allow that limit their bravery. More please Sherry Thomas!

And yes it‘s like I‘ve been sneezing out posts this evening. It‘s been a bit of a heavy time IRL and the first thing to fail me was my ability to write about my reading. (The second was my concentration span on said reading) but I‘m starting to get back into things now so I‘m trying to catch up! This one arrived last week when I was in a bit of a funk and I promised I could read it when I had a handle on life again.

This book is SO good! The whole series is so flipping good! I kept taking breaks when I was near the end because I didn‘t want to finish the book. Our favorite heroine must discover what her Inspector friend found that scares him enough to keep him from speaking on his own defense when accused of murder and how to get him free. Such wonderful characters and amazing exploration of women and women‘s lives. Love! 5/5 stars. Read this series.

I have been dying to get my hands on this book because I was very excited to see where things were going with Charlotte and Lord Ingram. Also, who doesn‘t love a locked room mystery? How about a mystery that is mired with deceptions and half-truths? The mystery in this book was incredibly intriguing and handled with precision. I loved it. What‘s more is that I loved Charlotte and Ingram working together and without all his usual angstiness.

The fifth instalment of this series doesn‘t disappoint. After the Parisian heist adventure, evil strikes very close to home, putting in jeopardy close friends and allies. Both the plot and the characters‘ journeys are moved along in directions I expected and some I didn‘t, much to my delight.
