In the Family Way: A Novel | Laney Katz Becker

Wow what a powerful and thought provoking book this was. There are a few triggers in this, miscarriage, abortion and domestic violence so be aware. They are handled in the way of the times this book is written about. Although fiction there is a lot of truth in this and its terrible to think what women went through in those times. The plot is well written and told through a mix of characters mostly Lily, Rose and Betsy. #Netgalley 4*

This was a bit of a weird book. There's many random pages with a quote and a picture of what I assume is the author in a weird pose. She's also a bit aggressive at times with her words.
The advice is more about storage you might need rather than decluttering. Useful maybe for a new or first home. Not for me 2*

Aww this was such a good if somewhat sad at times read. I would rate it higher but I didn't like the ending. That's just my personal opinion though and the ending does very much fit the story and the times. I just wanted something else. That being said the story is well worth a read if you like Jane Austen and those style stories. I found the plot interesting and detailed. Mary really grew on me throughout the story and Cassandra Austen #netgalley

This was a slow burn start but towards the end it really picked up. There was a few really dramatic moments keeping me interested in the story. This does touch on some dark and possibly triggering themes with the parts about Leo's family but it doesnt steal focus from the main mystery. The ending was well done and cleverly written. I liked Leo and Shan, they faced their own issues but kept trying to get justice. #Netgalley 3*

This isnt my usual sort of book but when suggested to me I wanted to give it a try and i'm so glad i did. I really enjoyed the story. I loved how her tales of the cats interspersed with her own life and the comparisons she could make. Its heartfelt, sweet and at times sad but its also very real and honest. Courtney shows us her life and the others she met along the way whilst she rescued cats. A truly inspiring read. #Netgalley 4*

Ooh what a fabulous steamy romance. Perfect summer/beach read. It is quite steamy though but i enjoyed it. The plot was fun and interesting. I loved the character developments between Jade and Liam. The ending was sheer perfection for the story. I am a sucker for a story like this so it did not disappoint. I must say however that as much as i loved Jade, she's fun feisty and sassy. I did love Jeremy more. He was so brilliant #Netgalley 4*

This was an interesting story. However the main mystery with the little boy got lost in all the other parts of the story. There's a lot going on so it takes time for it all to come together which is does by the end. This does also lightly touch on sexual abuse but its not a big part of the story though I expected it given how the story was going. The ending was interesting and a clever twist though I did have a little bit of an idea about it. 3*

Wow what a read this was. There were so many twists and turns along the way. The story isn't told in the traditional sense but by podcast transcripts, emails and other media forms. It gave a real modern feel to the book. The plot itself was clever and the ending a little dark yet perfect for the style of the book. I loved Tom and his little dog. A modern mystery. 5*

This was such an interesting read. I liked how it led you down one path with what might be the reasons only to turn it near the end. I actually found that clever. I especially enjoyed how it was all explained. The plot jumps timelines a bit and follows Maisie and a detective throughout the story. It never gets confusing and it really allows the story to develop. The plot is fascinating and i was easily hooked. #Netgalley 4*

This was very much a cosy murder mystery with a modern Agatha Christie feel to it. I loved the location and the uniqueness of the locked room side of the mystery. I have to admit that I wasn't totally sure on the killer as I was too busy enjoying the ride to the big reveal. It made sense and its a recognised way but I liked it. The plot was simple and fun. Mimi is brilliant and I loved Addie too. The ending was perfect. Netaglley 4*

This is such a powerfull and deeply moving story. It takes a different look to a crime and really focuses on the aftermath. Especially when there is no instant capture. We truly see the pain and suffering that can be caused. Its heavy going at times and yet so well written. You read about cases in the press and online but never think about just how reaching a trauma like that can be. This is told by both Isabel and Edward. #Netgalley 5*

This is quite a unique horror as its told from the view of a child so we see everything through her eyes. It's a different take. The plot is creepy and a little sad at times. You can't help but feel for Bela in this. A child facing adult situations. The ending was how I figured it would end. I'm not sure if I liked it and yet it worked for the story. The atmoshpere is well built in this and definitely not one to read late at night or home alone.

As a big fan of thriller stories, I quickly recognised this type of story and figured out what might be going on. That being said it was still a good read. Its an easy thriller that you can just sit and read. The ending was good and i did like the very final diary entry. That was cleverly done. The book is told by Claire in the present and her diary entries plus flashbacks to her past with her mother. #Netgalley 3*

This is a real slow burn and takes a while to get into the story but it was interesting to see how it would turn out. It's told from Saffy and her mother in present day then dots back to the past with Rose. The plot was filled with some clever twists leading to an interesting if slightly sad ending. It was how the book should end though. A thriller filled with twists and Lies. 3*

Wow this was such a good read. I will admit there were a couple of sections i had to skip because well they grossed me out. Feet related antics are not my thing, plus another scene which was too much. Beyond that the story is funny, heartwarming and joyful. I really wanted to like this and the premise sounded great but sadly it failed to deliver. It was a long read and the pace never seemed to pick up. I read onto the end to see how it would finally all play out and there was a couple of interesting twists but it didnt make up for the rest of the book. I struggle with the unreliable narrator style stories as they can feel disjointed and you don't connect with the lead. #Netgalley 2*

DogMomIrene She definitely keeps cleaning in good perspective. I‘m a perfectionist so shifting from the desire to have the perfectly cleaned home like it‘s a one and done kind of task to the more realistic view that cleaning is an ongoing task, everyday, was really helpful for me. 5mo

Andrew65 I think I‘ve read most of them apart from the ones written in the last 3 - 4 years. He always reminds me a bit of Harlan Coben. He has written some good standalones but my favourites are the Tina Boyd and the DI Ray Mason Series. They are quite short series with 7 and 4 books respectively. The Tina Boyd series is best read first that starts with (edited) 5mo
