“Sometimes you don‘t realise how strong you are until you‘re tested.” - Morgan Rhodes, Falling Kingdoms

QOTD: What series did you start, but haven‘t continued for whatever reason?

AOTD: Falling kingdoms is a series that I started, but never continued. I absolutely loved book one, and I have had book 2 on my shelf for well over a year... I just never picked it up! Hopefully I will some time soon 🤣😅

“To love is to be selfless. Let me be selfless.” - S. Jae-Jones, Wintersong
Wintersong received A LOT of mixed reviews, but I absolutely loved it. I loved the story between Liesl and The Goblin King and the way in which it developed and grew. I have Shadowsong on my kindle and I am so excited to pick it up!
On another note, my review for Blood and Sand by C. V. Wyk is up on my blog! Feel free to check that out - link in bio 😊

“One to be a murderer. One to be a martyr. One to be a monarch. One to go mad.” - Heartless, Marissa Meyer.

Renegades was my Goodreads Monday pick for this week! I loved both the lunar chronicles (though I still need to read Winter) and heartless and I cannot wait to pick Renegades up!

I also have reviews up on my blog for Switch by A. W. Hill and Nathaniel hill, as well as Pretty Dead Girls by Monica Murphy - Link in bio

Isn‘t this cover just 😍😍😍 I love both version of the cover (even though this is the only copy I have) and it‘s definitely up there with Strange the Dreamer as one of the most aesthetically pleasing books sat on my shelf!

Have you read this book yet? Did you enjoy it?

“The measure of a man is what he does when he has power.” Pierce Brown, Red Rising

My review for Red Rising is now up on my blog! Link in bio :-) I absolutely LOVED this book! I didn‘t pick it up for the longest time because I thought it was something I wasn‘t going to overly enjoy, so I left it on my tbr for a while. I could literally kick myself! The world building, the character development and the plot were fantastically weaved together!

“What started as a secret rebellion, ended as justice. Revenge. Death. Rebellion.” - blurb from First We Were IV by Alexandra Sirrowy

My review for First We Were IV is now up on my blog! Link in bio :-) this was unfortunately a DNF for me, which is a shame because it was a highly anticipated read. I struggled to really connect with the characters and I felt that the plot was really too slow to keep my interest.

Pickpick

As with all Natasha Preston‘s books, this was pretty epic. It had me guessing throughout the book as to who the culprit was (because I didn‘t believe for one minute that it was who the characters thought it was) and I wasn‘t ready for who it turned out to be! I do feel like sometimes the characters acted in a way that was a little unbelievable for characters who were going through what they were going through. Full review to come on my blog!

I honestly forgot just how amazing this book is! This was a re read, so that I could FINALLY get to book 3 (after re reading book 2) because for some reason I never picked up #3 when I first read them years ago! Tamara is a very unreliable narrator, so you‘re really questioning everything and it keeps you hooked throughout! A full review will be up on my blog soon 😊😊

The Crown's Fate | Evelyn Skye
Bailedbailed

I wasn‘t a huge fan of book one, so I went into this one a bit wary. Honestly, I was pretty bored throughout what I read (I dnfed), and I didn‘t like the characters any better than I did in the first one. I was also pretty skepticism about how Skye was going to wrap everything up in this one book, and I couldn‘t see it happening. This book does have mixed reviews and unfortunately, it wasn‘t for me.

This was supposed to be my next read ... I‘ve gotten about 30% of the way through and I have had to dnf - I was literally falling asleep. The writing was repetitive, the characters bugged me and I feel like I was misled by the blurb. I was expecting more from this book and it just didn‘t deliver...

Pickpick

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced and a relatively quick read. I like the various characters and the different aspects their personalities brought to the story. I liked the contrast between what is shown in the media and what the characters are actually like and the way in which the author portrayed that. I would love to know more about the effigies talents and phantoms and where it all came from!

Pretty disappointed with this one. It wasn‘t as fleshed out as I would have liked it to have been, the characters were completely superficial and boring and I feel like the reasoning behind what was going on wasn‘t very thought out either. The only thing I really did like was the seriousness of the tasks they were given. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I was mostly disappointed with this book. I felt extremely disconnected from the characters, so I didn‘t really care what happened to them. I didn‘t feel the romance aspect of the book because I just didn‘t see the spark between them. I did enjoy the ending, because that is where things started to pick up a little...

I have had this book on my shelf for ages, so I was really glad to have picked it out of my jar as my next read! Whilst it was mostly enjoyable, I felt like the book dragged and not enough information was presented to us about certain aspects of the book. I loved each and every one of the characters and the depth that Each and every one of them had. I‘m looking forward to seeing how this series develops as a whole.

C. L. Stone is one of my absolute all time favourite authors. I love both the scarab beetle series and the ghost bird series and this latest instalment to the former did not let me down! I have heard a lot of amazing things about this book - however, I was hugely disappointed. I was pretty disappointed with this book - which is upsetting because I was so excited about reading it! I felt like this book focused too much on the romance aspect, despite teens being brutally murdered in the background. I did enjoy the murder mystery aspect, but I would have liked more info on the killer and why they were doing it. I also felt like the ending was pretty unsatisfying 🤷‍♀️

I really enjoyed these novellas! I do believe that these could have been written into one book, rather than 5 novellas because the events are all related and follow one after the other with barely a couple of months in between them. These novellas definitely gave a new insight into Celaena (as she was know back then) as a character and who she becomes later on. I do have one huge unpopular opinion about Sam - more on that on my blog! Link in bio!

This book ... was so frickin' good!! I was completely hooked from the very beginning and basically read it in one sitting. This is not an 'in your face' kind of scary but more subtle scary that plays on your mind even when you're not reading the book. The storyline was completely believable and I cannot even believe the twist at the end 😱😱😱😱 I cannot wait to have a finished copy of this on my shelf!
