I've had this on my TBR shelf for absolutely ages so decided this year was the one, & I wish I'd read it earlier. The synopsis really doesn't convey how creepy the story is & there are one or two good twists. The only weak point I thought was the conclusion, I could see what the author was aiming for but it could have been a bit stronger.

Despite having a few intriguing aspects at play; I still found the writing in this to be clunky, and disjointed. Which only served in making this feel like it was more for pre-teens than young adults. The story floundered horribly for about the first eighty percent and didn‘t engage me, at all, until the very end. I thought the ending was fairly good...but unfortunately, it wasn‘t nearly enough.
Ok. Definitely weird and unexpected, especially the ending, which is very WTF. A few things seemed rushed and didn‘t quite line up, but all-in-all it was entertaining.
Starting this next! Thoughts?
Highly recommended! Great thriller and awesome twist at the end i didnt see coming! Definitely creepy. I gave this 4 stars.
When Seda‘s mom inherits an old mansion, they both left to spend summer there. The grounds are beautiful and the house has secret passages to explore. Except now her mom wants to renovate, which means they're not going back to the city
Then a group of teens get stranded during a blizzard. And as the snow continues fall, Seda has no choice but to offer them shelter. what Seda fears most is about to become her reality…
This was in between a pan and so-so for me. The writing was stagnant and plain. Plot and character were interesting and the story would have been much better if the writing was more complex. I could have skipped full paragraphs and not miss any key information. An easy read I didn't get attached to.
August was a good book month, and I dont have any least favorites. I really loved the #Audiobook of Nevernight, and the arc of Alone definitely got me ramped up for Fall and #LittensDressedInBlood!

This book ... was so frickin' good!! I was completely hooked from the very beginning and basically read it in one sitting. This is not an 'in your face' kind of scary but more subtle scary that plays on your mind even when you're not reading the book. The storyline was completely believable and I cannot even believe the twist at the end 😱😱😱😱 I cannot wait to have a finished copy of this on my shelf!
Trying to decide what to read next and after flicking through some reviews of this one... well, let's do this!! (ARC provided through Netgalley) :-)
Now the dog is curled up on my legs (obviously aware of my fear and need for comfort). Important lesson learned from this book recently: Don't wear a long scarf while driving in a convertible (don't take my word for it, just Google Isadora Duncan... or don't, because it's fairly traumatic).

1. Cafe, for coffee and treats (let's assume I'm not on a carb and sugar break though).
2. Fictional character! What if I screwed up my favorite writers mojo by hijacking their life?!
3. Always cry. I'm emotional already.
4. I'll take the 1k book.
5. Always read the back cover blurb! Although I'm still swayed by a pretty cover and a clever title, I do like to get a sense of the story.

Sitting in an unlit room, reading a scary story whilst I sip coffee and regret sitting with my back to the open front door (so the cat and dog can look out at the rainy front yard). Being a fan of horror and thrillers can be tough, y'all, even if we do do it to ourselves.

In Alone aka The Shining for teens, four stranded and snowbound teens find themselves at the mercy of a murderer. 😱😱😱 Out in November!
My friend clipped this out of the newspaper for me. Sent a pic to my favorite Enabler, the Hubs.
Enjoying this creepy thriller already! #CurrentlyReading #arc #edelweiss #eArc
