This book was amazing! Had me guessing till the end.
Totally not what I thought I was getting into from what I read on the back of the book. The author did paint a picture but it was a depressing one. Plus it was another book that left many questions I had unanswered. Maybe if I knew it was a sad book I could appreciate it more but I was caught off guard and that ruined it for me. Proceed with caution if you pick this as your next read.
This book was set up in a style I haven‘t come across before. It was interesting and had me turning the pages. However, the ending was so abrupt and fell short it left me dissatisfied.
Fast paced, easy read, great characters, amazing plot, and great historical tidbits. My favorite thing was looking up the history I had never heard of and learning more about it. I really enjoyed this story and would love to read more by this author.
I really wanted to love this book. However, in my opinion it fell short. Sally‘s character was more of a damsel in distress searching for help which is very different from her character in the movie. Also, there was a ton of descriptive writing that felt the same. I did enjoy seeing the other holiday realms which is why I gave it a so-so rating instead of a pan. It was also nice to get some backstory to on Sally.
I kept losing interest and would set it down for weeks at a time but I finally got through it. A few of the characters were a little dry and it dragged on in some areas. I gave it a so-so rating because I was not expecting that ending at all. It took me by surprise.
This was the first book I read from this author and WOW I loved it! Definitely a page turner and I enjoyed thinking about all the possibilities that the storyline could take me. It was suspenseful with an ending I actually liked. If you have read any other books by Lisa Jewell I would love some recommendations.
I love this series and this book did not disappoint. Captain Hooks story was amazing! I listened to this book on audible and the narrator did an excellent job. Can‘t wait to buy this one and add it to my library.
I was super excited to read this book but in the end it was not as good as I had hoped. When I first started I had to keep going back to make sure I was keeping the characters straight. The story took off and then died down as I went along and the ending felt rushed to me. Great story idea but execution could of been a lot better.
Loved the way this book was written. Definitely made me think more about animals living in captivity. It was a quick read as well.
Loved all three points of view and the past and present timelines. I think the author did an excellent job of leaving you wanting to read just one more chapter.
Mixed feelings about this book. At the start it reminded me so much of Twilight and Legacies that I was irritated at the author. I decided to power through and then found myself getting frustrated that it went on and on before getting to any content worth being excited over. Then finally, the book grabbed my attention enough to give the second book a try.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I love dark fairytales and I was intrigued by the concept of this book. However, I found it hard to focus because the writing was all over the place. It didn‘t have an easy flow and I kept having to go back feeling like I missed something. Normally I read a series till the end but I‘ll just find a summary of the next book instead of reading it.
I have seen this book described as a gripping spy thriller and consistently fast paced fun and it is neither of those things. This is my second time reading this book (years apart) and although it had moments that made me smile I was left feeling like the book was lacking.
What an incredible book to end 2021 with! I love this authors writing style.
A twisted and suspenseful page turner! I can‘t say anything more for fear of giving spoilers.
Excellent story! Grabbed my attention from the first page and I couldn‘t put it down. Wanted a little more from the ending but I‘m like that with some books. Especially the ones I like because I‘m not ready for the story to end.
Another good book by Ruth Ware. Great twists and turns and I love the way she pulls in the reader with suspense.
I was disappointed in both stories. I was hoping for more backstory on the Sanderson sisters in the first book but it was mostly identical to the movie. The sequel was okay but I found it said the same thing over and over but in different ways. I found myself skimming past the rambling to get to the important parts of the plot.
Another great book in this series. I love how they are separate but at the same time weave a story about the odd sisters through all of them.
If you love fairy tales with a dark twist then this book is for you. It was absolutely eerie and outstandingly written. I could not put it down!
This was an interesting book. At first I wasn‘t sure if I was going to like it but I‘m glad I kept at it because after reading it I can say I really enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this book. However, if you are planning on reading it with your young kiddos I would scan through it first. It could be considered somewhat dark. It really is a great story!
I picked up this book because one of the four short stories includes my favorite character Holly Gibney. Her story did not disappoint! There were two that I found really good and one that left me a little confused. Overall it‘s worth the read!
Another brilliant book by Stephen King! I picked this one up because I love the character Holly Gibney and she did not disappoint. Among the sadness and anger toward terrible evil I also laughed a little in some parts. I love books that can create a gamut of emotions. On a side note I‘ve been listening to Kings books (Mr. Mercedes and this one) on audio and I have to say Will Patton is an outstanding narrator.
A great ending to the trilogy! I was prepared for some style changes in this book thanks to some of the foreshadowing in the second book. Definitely a page turner.
Great book! Loved how it gave points of view from both sides.
It‘s a classic! I can‘t believe I waited this long to read the book.
I loved getting to play detective with the little clues left along the way and enjoyed making predictions on who the murderer was. The one thing that I didn‘t like about the book was that there were little snippets of different characters perspective and those characters never reappeared in the story. Definitely some loose ends that needed to be tied up.
The first time I picked up this book I didn‘t get very far. At first I felt that I didn‘t have the attention span to dive into a world with lands and kingdoms that I would have to keep track of. However, I am glad I picked it up a second time. I chose not to focus on the minute details of the kingdoms because the main storyline is badass! The author sets a great foundation for the main character and writes a beautiful picture.
Spectacular! Great writing and had me guessing till the end. I love this author.
I started this series hoping the books would get better but they are the same. I felt there was quick resolutions to the problems and I find myself speed reading through them without appreciating the story line. Still just an okay series. Onto book 4 because why not there are only 5 books in the series.
This book reminds me a lot of Twilight. However, it was just different enough to hold my attention. I‘m not a fan of the main character but I think I‘ll give book two a try to see if the writhing gets any better. It was a super quick read so that‘s a bonus.
This book is phenomenal! It drew me in right away. It had me emotionally involved and it felt like I was on Isabelle‘s journey with her. The author did an amazing job! It was refreshing to read a retelling from the stepsisters point of view. Time to redefine beauty ❤️
I had a hard time with this book. I felt like there was a massive information dump and a long build up to the action. By the time the action started I was already having to force myself to finish the book. When I dislike a book I usually give it one more chance just to make sure it is not a right fit for me before I donate it. If my opinion changes I‘ll write a new review.
I love a book that keeps pulling you in with tidbits of information given as the story unfolds. I was guessing until the end.
My favorite! So far this is such a great book! I love this author ❤️
