PRE-ORDER NOW: FROM THE NUMBER ONE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS and THEN SHE WAS GONE comes an engrossing, twisty tale of betrayal in which an outsider is accused of murder... _______________________________________ LONDON: On a fine avenue of grand houses, big cars and electronic gates, lies a neglected urban wasteland. It is nearly midnight, and very cold. Yet in this dark place of long grass and tall trees where cats hunt and foxes shriek, a girl is waiting... When Saffyre Maddox was ten something terrible happened and she's carried the pain of it around with her ever since. The man who she thought was going to heal her didn't, and now she hides from him, invisible in the shadows, learning his secrets; secrets she could use to blow his safe, cosy world apart. Owen Pick is invisible too. He's thirty-three years old and he's never had a girlfriend, he's never even had a friend. Nobody sees him. Nobody cares about him. But when Saffyre Maddox disappears from opposite his house on Valentine's night, suddenly the whole world is looking at him. Accusing him. Holding him responsible. Because he's just the type, isn't he? A bit creepy? INVISIBLE GIRL: A story of secrets and injustices, and of how we look in the wrong places for the bad people while the real predators walk among us in plain sight. _________________________________ 'It is as BRILLIANT as you'd expect. Possibly brillianter.' LUCY MANGAN 'An up-all-night gripping story with characters who feel as real as you and me.' ERIN KELLY

Owen, a thirty something sixth form teacher is accused of sexual misconduct…charges he categorically denied. Across the road from Owen, we meet the Fours Family, they have a bad feeling about their neighbour, Owen. Introducing Saffyre, just finished therapy with Mr Fours. These characters are inextricably linked.
A dark, riveting thought provoking read about prejudiced thoughts and outcasts in society. Well written with a powerful conclusion.

I kept losing interest and would set it down for weeks at a time but I finally got through it. A few of the characters were a little dry and it dragged on in some areas. I gave it a so-so rating because I was not expecting that ending at all. It took me by surprise.

Lisa can really write a popcorn mystery. Picked this up because it was on the #BannedBooks list at my library - my guess is because the plot revolves around misogyny & incel forums. The ending felt a bit rushed but overall, I sped through this.

Characters were realistic - not flawless and you got to know their sometimes even disturbing secrets.

Atmosphere was mysterious and scenes in the dark streets vivid.

I loved how this had multiple POVs and several twists: it wasn't easy to guess what has happened.

This was pleasurable read even though some things were a bit too coincidental.

Thanks for recommendation @Eggs

Well this was a somber read. Definitely some triggers but really good writing, especially when it comes to reminding you there's bad people in this world. I became invested in the characters so some of the bad stuff hit hard. So, this was an excellent read, gets deep into these characters heads building slowly throughout the story. Family issues, teen girls, stalking, and a few twists and turns. #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #thriller #suspense

Told from multiple POVs, it‘s a multi-weaved story about a family...Psychologist Dad, Stay at Home Mom and two teenage kids. A 33 virgin man that lived across the street from them and a high school student who was treated for self harming by the dad. There have been reports of sexual assaults in the area and now a teenage girl, who was treated by the Dad, has been reported missing! What happened to her and who is causing all these assaults? 4.5⭐️

How have I never read anything by Lisa Jewell before? This was a real winner of a spontaneous library request. Invisible Girl has everything you want from a domestic mystery. Jewell does a great job building a narrative grounded in the notion that we can never really know everything about the people around us. Her characters' flaws are front an centre, which kept me stacking theories about what happened and who did it throughout this novel.

. 2021 Book #1
My Rating: 4/5
I have yet to read a Lisa Jewell book that I don't like. I always enjoy how she shows the characters through a variety of perspectives, making them more 3 dimensional. This book was no exception. As usual, don't expect some big climax, but you can expect all the varied puzzle pieces to come together nicely the end

First book of 2021. I am committed to reading more this year. 2020 found me unable to concentrate on the written word, and I instead depended heavily on Audible for my daily doses of literature. I will not stop listening to books on my daily commute, but I will definitely focus on turning off the tech, and picking up the 📚.

Totally mesmerizing. I couldn‘t put it down. I loved how the individual stories entwined and created alternate viewpoints which had to be explored, and ultimately deconstructed to form the whole picture. I am always a fan of Lisa Jewell books and this one is right up there for me. Not a thriller exactly but full of suspense, twists and surprises which kept me hopping from one suspect to the next. #NetGalley

Absolutely loved this one by Lisa Jewell! I thought I had it figured out, but she left me with plenty of surprising twists and turns. This is well worth a read. It‘s a great mystery/thriller. While the thriller aspects are more toned down, it still has some traditional thriller characteristics. I loved the varying viewpoints and Saffyre‘s headstrong personality.

This is an atypical Lisa Jewel novel. It‘s not really thrillerish, but that‘s OK. It‘s a good story told from multiple viewpoints, and it takes a while for them all to coalesce into basically the same story, which makes it feel suspenseful and satisfying. One of the characters, Owen, was kind of Eleanor Oliphant-lite. The book‘s ending is neatly tied up with a bow, or is it? A bit of a slow mover at times, but I really enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really liked this slow-building suspense novel. Saffyre, a teen, has disappeared, and there have been a rash of sexual assaults through the neighborhood. Is it the creepy incel across the street? Maybe Saffyre‘s former therapist that she‘s been stalking? Someone else? Where is she?

One of the most interesting parts was the look inside the incel community and into the mind of the creepy neighbor. 3.75⭐️

Good narration! #audiobook

This novel will leave you breathless, and just when you think you‘ve followed the clues and know what will happen- a small tidbit you overlooked comes back and explodes in your face. This story is beautifully written, has dynamic characters, and a twist you will be blinded by.

I highly recommend this novel. It is fast-paced, detailed, and absolutely terrifying.

⚠️Trigger Warning for Sexual Assault and derogatory talk towards women

I feel like every time I start a Lisa Jewell book, I can‘t do anything else until I‘m done.
